A friend of mine was at the TKTS booth Sunday and swore that he saw "Hello Dolly" tickets available for 50% off for the matinee. I told him that was impossible. But he insisted he saw them listed on the board.
I'm highly doubtful. Even if house seats suddenly became available, they'd be sold at the Schubert box office, right? They'd easily get full price from people who were standing in the cancellation line.
Am I assuming too much? Is there a circumstance where my friend could possibly be correct?
Thanks!

Didn't happen.
If I were a staff member working at TKTS, I'd buy them damn tickets and take rest of the day off. Also, even if it were to be on TKTS (for eg., if there was no one at the cancellation line and 10+ tickets became suddenly available), the tickets would be at a much lower discount. Not 50%.
Agree with everything everyone above wrote, but I can foresee this being on TKTS during some of Donna's shows.
I would require photo evidence to believe that story. From this point on, I think you should take everything your friend says with a grain of salt.

I think I've just answered my own question. English is not my friend's first language. It's very possible he saw "A Doll's House, Part 2" listed. Makes much more sense. lol.

I'm glad you were able to unravel the mystery, and relatively quickly, at that!
Well, at least he still would have seen a good show in the event of accidental purchase haha.

He probably told the TKTS person that he was a big fan of Laurie Metcalf and asked if she was currently in anything on Broadway. The guy probably responded "Hello!!! A Doll's House". A very understandable mistake.

"Hello, Dollhouse" sounds like a big production number fro a TOY STORY film

You wouldn't believe the number of people who get show titles mixed up in their mind. Your friend is not alone!
Or performers. My aunt still goes around saying she saw Patti LaBelle in EVITA on Broadway. I've stopped correcting her because the pure thought of it makes me laugh hysterically inside.

The Amsterdam News recently ran a review of HELLO DOLLY! and singled out the number "Sunday Best" for its staging. It made me think of other overlooked songs from DOLLY: "Fall on Dolly", "Eloquence'"' "The Waiter's Dollop"', "Ribbons Down My Bra"' , "It Only Takes a Minute"' and "So Long Drearie".
Oh, the wonder!

Dollypop.. you give life to this otherwise tired board. Thank goodness Hello, Dolly is back. It brought my interest to this board back. Mainly because of your observations.

Oh, you're only saying that because it because it's true!
Shoot. Does that mean there isn't a production of Oh Hello Dolly on Broadway starring John Mulaney as Cornelius and Nick Kroll as Ernestina?
I've posted this here (and elsewhere) before but back in the 1980s I was standing in line at the TKTS booth and when the woman in front of me got to the window, she asked whether they had tickets for Barefoot in the Park with George.

I was picking up tickets for Great Comet and guy behind me was trying to return the tickets he'd just bought because he thought he was at Dear Evan Hansen's BO. Guess the bunker motif didn't tip him off that he'd walked into the wrong theatre.
