Hello, Dolly!: TCM/Fathom Events

If this thread more appropriately belongs on the off-topic board, forgive me.

I went to see the 50th anniversary screening of Hello, Dolly! (1969) at one of my local theatres today. This thread is not intended to rehash the old argument of Streisand being cast as Dolly or any other controversial aspect of the production.

Instead, this is a small tribute from me, an appreciative audience member, to actor/singer/dancer Danny Lockin., who played Barnaby in the film. His performance seemed as fresh and charming as it must have in 1969, as well as the many times he played the role on stage. I was totally entranced by his time on the screen. His energetic dancing was especially memorable. He made my Sunday afternoon a joy!

I am aware of a past thread on this site that detailed Danny's horrific murder and the total miscarriage of justice that followed.

I hope that he knows that he is not forgotten.

The screen test is fascinating to watch. I particularly like when Kelly tells him not to get serious.

The quality of the copy shown was excellent. I was somewhat taken aback by the brilliant colors.

I completely understand what you mean by sometimes the copies shown looking like a VHS tape made by Magnetic Video Corporation.

I was very heartened this morning to see a thread on the other Broadway site that specifically mentioned Danny Lockin being the standout in Hello, Dolly!

Once again, I hope the he knows the appreciation audiences still have for him.
