Did she really say that? It sounds like something she'd do. LOL

Edit: It's funny. What would you do if some pulled your arm.

the photographer was LUPWNED!

Curtain - what would you do, if you were Patti Lupone? Eat a lobster, cure cancer, solve world hunger, or tell a photographer to F*CK OFF!

seriously... think about that one.

I would but it was deleted.

If the internet had been around during the theatre's "golden age" Ethel Merman would be the focus of attention in the same way that Patti LuPone is today. Merman also would have told the photographer, "Go **** yourself!" at the very least.

"The shirt would only be complete if it said "What's Yours?" on the back."

Knowing Patty it probably says "Up Yours" on the back. re: Hello, her name is Patti *smiles*

Like her or not - the lady has style.

As for the photographer grabbing her arm, no one has the right to put their hands on you. Celebrity doesn't make you public domain. Apparently the guy had forgotten or was not familiar with this simple rule of thumb, so Ms. Lupone gave him a not-so-gentle reminder and/or lesson. Good for her. re: Hello, her name is Patti *smiles*

I never said my company was more talented than she is. I simply do no care for her. That part is not sad. What is sad is that you feel you need to attack me personally because I do not like her. That you have to take what I do for a living and make light of it.

For the record my childrens company in Connecticut has more subscribers than Long Wharf Theatre or Yale Repertory Theatre and has been operating for 27 yeras. Nothing sad about it at all.

The Merm could talk like a sailor in her home, at a rehearsal or in a bar after a few, but in front of the press, she was always a lady, a big truck driver lookin' lady, but never the less a lady.
Patti is a different animal.

Like Eadie in the song she sings, Merman had class with a capital "K."

I've told this story in other threads:

Ethel Junior (yes, that was her name) was at the back of the house, waiting for her mother after a rehearsal. Ethel Senior was onstage having a discussion with the director and the stage manager, which apparently had been going on for some time.

"Ma!" Ethel Junior whined from the back row. "How much longer are you gonna be?"

"Shut up, Ethel!" Ethel yelled back from the stage. "I'll be done in a little while."

"MA!" Ethel Junior answered back. "I'm tired of waiting. I wanna go NOW!"

"I told you to shut up! I'll be done when I'm done!" Ethel answered, annoyed to have had her conversation interrupted twice.

By this point, the stage manager and the director were getting uncomfortable, witnessing the great star in the midst of a parent-child squabble.

"GODDAMNIT MA!" Ethel Junior bellowed from the back of the house. "I'm not waitin' any more! I'm getting the HELL outa here!"

Everyone onstage watched, embarrassed, as the young girl stormed out of the theater.

Ethel turned to them, flush with anger: "Where the F*CK does the kid get a mouth like that?!?"

Howdy. Is it a true story.... or does it simply originate from your fertile imagination? Just wondering.... from RC in Austin, Texas. It's 10:59 a.m. and 74 degrees.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Foster, that is pretty much the cutest picture of anyone ever. I happen to think she looked amazing in that outfit. she's 59 and she sure doesn't look it.
