Hi all. I received some Google Play gift cards for Christmas, and would like to expand my musical collection with some recent cast albums. I'm still holding out for the yet-to-be-released "Side Show" revival album but I'm interested in getting albums from this through the past five seasons. If you had to suggest some albums from these seasons that a true musical lover should have, what would they be? Any and all help appreciated.

I'd highly recommend the Cinderella album if you don't already have that one. It has that "classic Broadway" sound to it that's hard to resist.

If you want Cinderella, get the Original Cast. Can't beat Julie Andrews.

Bridges of Madison County

The new recording of West Side Story that the San Francisco Symphony performed last year. I got it as a Christmas present and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. Just beyond gorgeous.

oof for some reason my iTunes says Allegro is from 2008, so i just believed it.

edit: castalbums.org says it was released February 3rd of 2009, so I guess I'll just keep it the way it is

Bonnie & Clyde, The Bridges of Madison County and to switch it up, A Tale of Two Cities International Studio Recording. The quality is insane on the last one especially (full orchestra, great sounding cast).

For those who suggested "Big Fish", THANK YOU!!! I listened to the entire cast album from start to finish last night. Truly one of the most beautiful modern scores I've heard in a long time. And it left me pretty sad that it closed so early- the music just absolutely floored me.

gypsy101, wow, I guess it was released in 2009. Strange that even castalbums.org calls it the 2008 studio cast. It's great either way.

It would have been recorded in late 2008, and thus is the '2008 cast', but released in early 2009.
