#0Help- planning a trip to New York

I'm planning a trip to New York- June 5-8. We are already seeing Aida on Friday (huge Adam Pascal Fan). But need help on picking a good show on Saturday- We are going to the ticket booth on Saturday for tickets. I would love to see Thourghly Mondern Millie- but do they sell 1/2 tickets for the same day. If not what are some other shows that are worth seeing- We thought about Chicago but are not sure what will be offered and what might sell out quick.
Thanks :)

It's tough to say between TMM and Chicago.. if you can get there early enough, you have a shot at both. Chicago has been up at TKTS, though I don't know about TMM... and Chicago has been selling out completely by the time the curtain goes up. *but* I got there at about 1pm last weekend and still was able to get 6th row center orchestra.

Yes, I have gotten Millie tickets at TKTS and I believe they're available there more often than not.

I'm so excited- this is my first time in New York and seeing a broadway show- so many good ones to see- very hard to choose. I live in Toledo, Ohio and it takes show soooo long to make it here.

What do you guys think about Moving Out- is it worth seeing on Broadway or wait until it comes here?? (It will be close to Toledo in January)

It is almost always preferable to see a show on Broadway rather on Tour. There is a difference!

I haven't seen Movin'Out but my next visit to N.Y. will include it and Hairspray.

Enjoy!

Just like Alvin, I have not yet seen Movin' Out but am seeing it in 3 weeks and I can't wait!

I really liked Movin' Out a lot. I wasn't expecting to, but it's really well done, and I actually cried at one point. If you're curious about the plot, the Billy Joel music and Twyla Tharp dances manage to come together into a very clear story. I wouldn't pass it by. It's not on TKTS, though. If you don't mind VERY little leg room, they sell $40 seats at the box office, so you could try for those.

Chicago has been a hot ticket since the movie, last time I checked (Easter week) it was not available at tkts, but Millie was. That may have changed now that the movie hype has settled down. Saturday night may be another matter, any show worth seeing is sold out in advance. You can also plan ahead of time and check broadwaybox.com, they have a complete list of shows that offer discounts with codes. Millie is going for $75 (code MTELE) except Sat nights, but Millie has a Sat matinee. Remember too, anything you're likely to get at tkts will be in the back rows, and Millie is one show that's best close up. The looks on Millie's (Sutton Foster's) face are priceless, she is just as much a joy to watch as she is to hear.

FYI, you have to pay CASH at the TKTS booth. Usually I buy my tickets in advance from Ticketmaster (etc.) and haven't used TKTS often. About six months ago I had a free evening in NYC and went to TKTS... fortunately had enough cash in my pocket to purchase a single ticket.

Chicago was just up on TKTS 2 weeks ago... typically it's up more during the week. It still sells out though.

You can still get tickets at the box office... and they *do* have standing room as well. Sometimes you can get lucky and get the tickets just a few hours to curtain.

I think you can pay with travellers cheques at TKTS as well, but don't quote me on that.
