Here it Comes...

Posted: 11/25/04 at 12:00pmThere were people on the street when the Producers was performing, it just wasn't busy because they probably closed down the road. There were people in line for POTO. It makes sense for that, because they couldn't perform in the middle of the street with people walking around like crazy and cars all over the place. In addition, this is being broadcasted to millions of viewers.

Ummm... it's not their choice, is it?
NBC has the rights to the numbers in front of Macys and clearly, NBC did not invite Brooklyn to perform there. CBS gave them a chance to do it in front of the Brooklyn Bridge and they jumped at it.
Not everyone was in front of Macy's this year. So how can you expect them to be "like everyone"?
How was it lazy of them to do something different? And how was it lazy considering it was a different network all together???

Lazy?
It's Eden and Cast's fault that their show was booked on CBS? I think not, my friend.
EDIT: CBS has a performance at the Brooklyn Bridge every year. I can't remember last year's, but the year before it was Molly Ringwald singing the last half of "Cabaret." I guess that makes her lazy, too.

Yea, I don't understand the logic either.
Very odd.

"I expect them to get their lazy asses out in front of Macy's and do it there like everyone else."
I wouldn't be saying that, since you are probably at this moment sitting on your butt in front of the computer screen...
Anyways, it is up to the network to decide who is going to perform. Had they been on NBC, yes, maybe they would have performed in front of Macy's. I think NBC is looking for more upbeat numbers to keep the audiences attention. CBS went on location to other shows, and notice how those ones were more relaxed, with the exception of the Producers.

Posted: 11/25/04 at 12:13pmMy main point is that a lot of people can put a pre packaged performance together and get a crew out to record them weeks in advance. I don't think that it's right to compare what was done on the bridge weeks ago and what was done live this morning. I had no problem with the "Brooklyn" piece as it was performed, I just think that it had an advantage over the other material where people have to get up and perform in front of a live audience.

Posted: 11/25/04 at 12:27pmI'm sure they did it for a live audience. It is pretty difficult to get people to vacate the Brooklyn promenade on a balmy, clear day they have off from work. Isn't this the setting Brooklyn is supposed to take place? Under the Brooklyn bridge?

Posted: 11/25/04 at 2:02pmWell good, I'm very happy that so many people enjoyed the performance. Now all they need is a book and some credible lyrics and maybe I can then enjoy the actual musical.
