Oh I loved the way they staged the ending of the recent LSoH..... the blood was a great little addition.

I have to agree with LadyG and say The Crucible. I cry every time.

most of my favorites are already up here
but i'd add cabaret - not your typical heartwarming fairytale ending - it kicks you in the stomach and leaves you gasping for air (beautiful metaphor, huh?) - maybe not the best but definetly one of the most powerful

My favs are already here, but Ill post why lol
Rent - really brings the show to a close. All the friends together, and Angel coming back. When I saw it I got choked up lol
The Producers - I love how they walk into the sunset. Its corny, but thats Mel Brooks for ya. (plus the song they sing after the bows is hilarious!)
Wicked - it ties up all storylines, and is rather creatively staged. Altho, I don't really like what happens, it kinda ruins all of the books after WoO, but thats ok
Little Shop - the characters learn their lessons lol. Seriously, I'd bet the plant looming over the audience is an amazing effect!
I also like powerful endings that leave the audience in tears or silence. Examples: Fiddler on the Roof, Sound of Music, Carousel

Gypsy- maked me cry everytime Bernadette started singing "Rose's Turn", especially at the end "For me...FOR MEEEE" and Caroline or Change, just because it leaves you in awe.
Happy...Everything!

HAIRSPRAY. I think "You Can't Stop the Beat" is the best closing number EVER. I thought the roof of the theatre was gonna explode from the energy. It was pure theatrical nirvana.

Best ending ever (or the most shocking one) was the Cabaret revival one!!!
Also love the ending of Sunset Boulevard and Aida.

Gee maybe I like dance finales?
Reminds me of one of my favorites - Contact. I loved the way the characters in all three plays came out and danced with each other at the end.
But I have to agree with others here. My favorite all time ending has to be Phantom.

I agree with some of the previous posters: 1776. That ending gives me chills every time I see it.

The Scarlet Pimpernel has a fabulous ending :)
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.

JCS- this is the best ever. I love the ending!
Cabaret- beautiful. It's such a great ending.
Taboo- "Come on in from the Outside" is such an amazing song
Avenue Q- brilliant!

Oh God, Miss Saigon was so powerful. I wouldmn't say it was my favortie cause it was soo.....sad to put it bluntly. I knew what was coming, but when it happened I felt my entire body just go numb. And I was shaking on the way home. That was one of teh best casts I have ever seen.

Merrily We Roll Along is great - it ends before the beginning. I like that it isn't a flashback but really goes backward in time.
I sing for myself. I sing when I want, whenever I want to, just for me. I sing for my own pleasure. Do you understand that?

Rent, huh? To me the ending is the only part I DON'T like. Mimi's miraculous recovery is SO forced. Talk about a Hollywood ending.
