PS Kitchen is excellent and a non-profit restaurant.

Also of note, though as a non-vegan I love PS Kitchen, the restaurant is a fabulous plant-based restaurant.

Not Times Square, but close-ish would be The Little Island.
I'm not sure if you can still access it, but the hidden Liberty theater is on 42nd. There use to be a restaurant inside it.

The Little Island is at Pier 55 - just west of 14th Street and 11th Avenue. That’s over 30 blocks from Times Square! Only a New Yorker can do that walk. That ain’t close-ish. Hahaha.
