Ho Ho Ho Joseph

It looks very likely that the Adelphi production of 'Joseph' will play a major UK theatre this coming Christmas.
Gareth Gates has agreed to play the special season that will open on Dec 14th until 30th January.
The theatre is due to be announced well before the show closes at the Adelphi in May.

Told ya this wasn't going to go go go away.

re: Ho Ho Ho Joseph

What is the deal with this show? Why does it never seem to stop running somewhere in the UK?

*echoes SADM2's sentiment and throws a tantrum*

re: Ho Ho Ho Joseph

So the guessing game begins as to which theatre will get it, especially as many have already announced their Christmas shows

The Mayflower hasn't announced their Christmas show yet. However, they have the Kenwright tour of Joseph in two weeks, so I don't imagine they'll have two productions of the same show within the year.

The Mayflower has panto planned again, last I heard. Plus like you say id be surprised if they had the same show twice in a year.

I honestly haven't been told anything for certain but the Rock City Concert Hall in Nottingham and the Millenium Centre in Cardiff have both been looked at.

This is insane.

But it should be playing all the time just not professional productions.

I do feel bad for whoever ends up with this.

re: Ho Ho Ho Joseph

I do have a sneaking soft spot for "Joseph". I don't think it deserves much of the petty hate thing that it gets at all. Particularly not the better London version.

But with increasing speculation now that it will be closing sooner rather than later, and April rather than the already brought forward May end, it must be a bit of a disappointment for Gareth Gates. And a Christmas season will be a bit of a sop for him. Is it likely he had a guarantee in his contract that they are wanting to still utilise, if they are having to effectively pay him anyway. Who is producing might be a bit of a clue.

And the other issue, of course, is what they will be doing with the Adelphi in the interim between Joseph and the Derren Brown Show. Would they really want it to just stand empty?

re: Ho Ho Ho Joseph

They're not going to take him to his home city of Bradford are they?

That would generate huge interest, but it would be a wrench for the Alhambra to give up its annual pantomime.

On the other hand do Bradfordians really need to see Billy Pearce in whatever yet again?
