Q, fair point, but thankfully for us, Travolta recently went on record saying that he doesn't work on a musical project unless he can rehearse for 6-9 months..
Stonestreet could actually make an inspired Edna, but wouldn't readily be my first choice.

Is that even a thing?

Eric Stonestreet - Edna
Christopher Walken (he was good) - Wilbur
Nikki Blonsky - Tracy
Jane Lynch - Velma Von Tussle
Dianna Agron - Amber Von Tussle
Matthew Morrison - Corny Collins
Tevin Campbell - Seaweed
Naturi Naughton - Little Inez
Mo'Nique - Motormouth Maybelle
Chord Overstreet - Link
I don't know who I would cast as Penny, so I'll arbitrarily stick in Amanda Bynes.

Sorry, folks.
It's the Hollywood Bowl. They won't be putting Mr. Stonestreet in the lead role because no one knows who he is.

Well, isn't that what STARRING MODERN FAMILY'S ERIC STONESTREET is for?
But can he do it? Doesn't this fan base have an uproar to the 9th degree if a gay man isn't playing Edna?

i really like the idea of John Goodman... or they might just go with Bruce Vilanch again who is fairly popular in Hollywood (well as a writer that is)...
and who knows.. maybe Justin Bieber will be Link!! hahaaa!

Posted: 1/26/11 at 3:47pmWasn't Jesse McCartney almost Link in the film version? I could see them using him. He has the right amount of irrelevant relevance as the Rent cast from last year.

"maybe Justin Bieber will be Link"
That literally made me cringe.

"No, JP.
Just, no."
It wasn't a suggestion that I'd want. More of a suggestion for who they'd go with.

Stonestreet would be phenomenal.
Jon Pinette would be good too- I already saw him as Edna, and he's become more popular due to his stand-up material going viral on Youtube.

Really? Have you seen anything from the Hollywood bowl? It features C and D list actors that 9 times out of 10 are completely miscast.
Knowing that Jesse McCarty was heavily considered for the film, and is also D list talent, I jokingly offered up his name, hence my "irrelevant relevance" comment. Sorry it was too smart for you to comprehend.

Not at all.
I just call BS when I see it.

And what did I say that was BS?
You make it seem as if I came in here and DEMANDED that a certain actor play a certain role. I merely made a suggestion, not one that I would even personally like to see. Just one that I personally feel would be on a producers mind. Obviously McCartney has a history of flirting with the role. He's tall, young and good looking, and has a semi-decent voice. By all accounts he's in no way an awful choice, certainly better than Ashley Parker Angel, who played the role on Broadway for over a year.
But, for whatever reason I violently offended you. Alright, sure.
