Two members of Congress come out in favor of leaving Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill and putting a woman on the $20 bill, in place of the (really awful) Andrew Jackson.

Let's hope President Obama and Treasury Secretary Lew can reverse their current plan to dump Hamilton.

I"d sign a petition. Replacing Jackson is what should be done

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

When the announcement was made that this was happening my immediate thought was "why not the $20? Jackson is far more a questionable person!"

Jackson DID have a musical, and not that long ago. Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson. If my memory serves me correctly, it also transferred from The Public.

I love it, off b'way....but it lost a bit coming uptown.

For the treasury to dump their own founder would be a douche move. So I would support replacing Jackson and putting a woman on the 20 dollar bill.

There was a great quote from one of women working for on the "women on the $20" campaign. (For those who don't know, there was a campaign in place to replace Jackson with a woman before the treasury department made the announcement they'd be replacing Hamilton.) When it was announced a woman would be on the $10 someone said something along the lines of "I guess by now we should be used to asking for $20 and only getting $10."

John Oliver had a great segment on it with this line:

"This is basically the perfect embodiment of the women's rights movement. Women ask for something they've earned. A bunch of men get together and talk about it. And then they give women half and ask her to share it."

My father said that Jackson should stay because the only time the US didn't have a debt was when he was in office. Which is true...because Jackson was a crazy person who didn't trust money or banks. All the more reason to not honor him on currency.

Jackson would be fascinating to study in an in depth bio musical/play. I know we had BBAJ, which I'm a big fan of, but Jackson is a such a complex person to take a look at. He's the definition of someone who can be a hero or a villain, depending on who you talk to.

I personally support removing Jackson from the $20, but if there is resistance, why not print new bills with women on them, as well as keeping the Jackson bills? Something like the quarters issued commemorating each state.

I loved Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson but have yet to see Hamilton. I'll have to get to the Richard Rodgers before I can decide where I come down on this currency issue.
