Any faves out there?

I'm excited about Tim Kitt's new show, "Next to Normal". And "Fugitive Songs"!!! Anyone heard anything about either one?

Joshua...something has a very eerie and haunting score for The Adding Machine and I just read that he's working on Candida. Very interested.

one for the list of NOT hot writing teams is Pasek and Paul, really amateurish.

Who is Tim Kitt? I know of a TOM Kitt! Are they two different people?

BK, I don't know what you have against Pasek and Paul, but you bring them up bizarrely often.

Pasek & Paul, Salzman & Cunningham, Ryan Scott Oliver & Kirsten Guenther, Thomson & Mann, Thomas Newman, Gaby Alter and Mark Allen, Danny Larsen, Iconis & Maddock, Bobby Cronin...

I have a thing for young composers...

I see that... have you heard any of the stuff from FUGITIVE SONGS? It's this new show by Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen. So far everything I've heard is amazing!!!

Where can you hear samples of FUGITIVE SONGS?

check out their myspace page - that's where I found them...

I think they might have a space on facebook too... I also got a rough recording of the closed reading they had in January with a few more of the songs. Check it out! "Passing Tracy" and "Patty and Dede" are both from the show.

I really like what I have heard from Kerrigan and Lowdermilk. Wish they would have a show produced in NYC sometime in the near future!

Pasek and Paul are so terrible. But they
slept with Stephen Schwartz, so go figure...

I think Kerrigan and Lowdermilk, while they haven't hit their stride yet, have serious potential.

Pasek and Paul, on the other hand, bore me to death. All of their songs feel practically the same to me--they're so formulaic.

I chose, and my world was shaken. So what? The choice may have been mistaken. The choosing was not.

Pasek and Paul had a three-way with the stright Schwartz???
That would make a good musical.
This thread is full of teams I never heard of.
If Kander and Ebb don't get THE VISIT on Broadway, they can all slit there wrists right now.

Miller and Tysen are okay.

both TRUE FANS and FUGITIVE SONGS were a complete wash, though! they haven't had much success.

Pasek and Paul's EDGES is heading to off-broadway next season and one of their musicals is being commissioned by Lincoln Center!

So exciting.

David Javerbaum and Adam Schlesinger wrote a few great tunes in CRY-BABY.

Hopefully we will hear more from them soon.

My favorites have to be Kerrigan and Lowdermilk. I adore their stuff from The Unauthorized Biography of Samantha Brown (especially "Run Away With Me") and their new work for Tales from the Bad Years re: Hot Young Writing Teams...

watch for a new young composer named Dan Kazmi as well. Works out of Philly. Fantastic.

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I can't think of a single young team out there that writes at the level of more established composers and lyricists. I hear so much sameness, so many trite lyrics, that even though I'm an optimist, it's a bit distressing that this could be the future of musical theatre.

A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

I need to throw in with the "Kerrigan and Lowdermilk" group. I was at their "Tales from the Bad Years" concert in May and thought what I heard was top notch.

Hey Ya'll I did a search and couldn't find a better thread to post this in but i figured i would add it in here instead of starting a thread devoted to it. This is a song by Pasek and Paul called Do you remember? sung by Gavin Creel. It is amazing. I hope you enjoy.
