At what point before a show should we assume we did NOT get House Seats? A friend working on Hamilton put in a request for us and we are not sure when we should make other plans. Should we give up a day before the show? An hour before the show? Thanks for the guidance.
House seats are just that. They belong to the producer or cast. I've seen the show multiple times b/c of house seats. You wait on the line. Shortly before the show, the house determine what seats they will release. There were times they would sell them an hour or more before the show. As of last summer, they sold them 15 minutes before the show because they didn't want folks going back outside to scalp them. So once they sold them, you had to go into the show. Ergo, they hold them till the last minute. Also, the house likes to hold them in case a celebrity or politician needs them. House seats are generally in the first 10 rows of orchestra center or side. I don't know if it's still true, but we were told the cast were given standing room seats and they were sold if the cast didn't use them. But that was in 2016-17.

When I got house seats to Hamilton, I definitely knew at least a week before. Same with the SRO tickets. But as TotallyEffed said, ask your friend who sent in the request.

I think they mean they’re getting house seats, not waiting in the cancellation line to get unused house seats

Got the tickets today for Thursday! 3 days in advance - so no more wondering how long I need to be on hold. Thank you all for your guidance!

She’s saying she has a friend in the cast so unless you have a friend in the cast you can’t get them. And if you do just ask said friend.
When a friend connected to the show got me house seats earlier in the run, they were Orch center row D.
