My friend loved Curtains and she tried to get me to see it every time I was in NYC and I finally caved a week before it was closing! I'm so glad I got the chance to see it! It's such a fun show with amazing choreography.

BroadwayBound115, where do you go to school? Because my school (Gulf Breeze High School) in Florida also just got the rights.
We were so excited.

March 20th and 21st.

We almost didn't get them because of the tour, but the closest it's coming is Atlanta and that's not even until after March.
We just found out today.

I saw the closing performance of Curtains and wow. It was the most entertaining, emotional show I've ever attended. I'll never forget Curtains.

It was a brilliant musical and had a short run (though not as short as Tale did.)

everyone in that show was perfectly cast.

ps. really jealous of both of you who are doing it at your high schools.

It was a brilliant musical and had a short run (though not as short as Tale did.)

It ran from March 22, 2007 to June 29, 2008; over a year and over 500 performances. I think that's a pretty decent run. Not nearly long enough but still pretty decent.

Adding to the Curtains love:

I was lucky enough to be at this show on Opening Night and made a special trip to be there for the (very premature) closing performance. Love this show - a great book, all-round amazing cast members (lead by DHP, Debra Monk, Jason Danieley, Karen Ziemba, Noah Racey, Megan Sikora etc), fantastic choreography (Tony-worthy by Rob Ashford IMHO), and one of the best scores I've heard in recent years. So many brilliant tunes stuck in my head from first viewing and have stayed there ever since. I hope it's a runaway success as a touring / school production.

Good luck to all of those involved in new productions and I hope you have great fun along the way. :)

Last year I did the red eye from Denver into NYC. Slept a bit on the plane. Got to NYC and dropped my bags at a friends. Walked up to TKTS and stood in line for about 45 minutes. Got a good seat for Curtains. Leading up to showtime, I was starting to get tired. Got to the show and it woke me up and I left the show with a big smile on my face and energy enough to last all day and night! What a wonderful show! Ms. Monk was out with an injury and Ms. Ziemba was on vacation. I was really disappointed that Ms. Monk was out and really thought about not seeing it when I got there and found out she was out. But I am glad I stayed! The "fantasy sequence" was worth the price of admission alone!

I, too, am a Curtains lover! I went into this show not knowing much about it, only that David Hyde Pierce was in it. Now it is one of my favorite musicals!

uncageg, it is a pity that you miss Ms. Monk, she was fantastic, but I am glad to hear you still enjoyed it!

I for one really enjoyed it. I think its going to be one of those forgotten gems that you dont really think about and then it will on occasion come up and it'll be like wow i forgot how great that show was.

Back in February, I stopped by the box office on a whim and got a partial view front row seat, and, short story, I just fell in love with it. I was humming the songs in the men's room during intermission! re: How Great Curtains was....... I went back once more before it closed. I still listen to the cast recording and relive the entire experience. I wish it was still playing today because I would have gone back many more times. It was your typical old-fashion Broadway musical with catchy tunes, wonderfully talented leads, and a hilarious book. I hope it is done regionally near where I live because I will go see it in a heartbeat.

Well, our cast list went up today. And I got the chorus part of Harv Fremont. I'm pretty excited.
Two of my best friends got Cioffi and Aaron.
This is going to be one kick-ass show.

It's so weird for me to think of high schools doing this show so soon after the production closed on Broadway. And to hear people saying things like they know the high schooler who will be playing Cioffi and Aaron.

The cast was such an amazing ensemble, perfectly cast, and one of those that I truly cannot see anyone else playing those roles. Or singing those songs. One of those "you feel the cast is yours" type thing.

A truly underrated and utterly enchanting show that I had the pleasure of seeing 5 times. I never, ever got tired of it.

Curtains is a great show, and those lucky enough to experience it on Broadway should consider themselves truly blessed. I was fortunate enough to see it before it's untimely closing, and it just left me with the sense that I had seen something before my time. I loved that the songs seemed to reflect on Kander and Ebb's partnership (I Miss the Music in particular). It closed too soon, but it should do well in the high school, college and touring circuits.
