Well, she can sing.

On its own, its really good and she has a lovely voice.
But I would be disappointed if she sings "Nowadays" like that in the show proper. It just doesn't convey what it's meant to using that style.
Here's a nice little clip I found on Huffington Post. Kara gives an interview. Towards the end, she sings a little snippet of "Funny Honey." from RC in Austin, Texas
Kara DioGuardi
I saw her on Regis and Kelly also. While her voice is nice, I wanted to hear her sing a song "full on". That performance did not make me want to buy a ticket.
I could see the terror in Kelly's eyes when Seth began his tactless joke. Squirm inducing indeed.
Kara was ok, but I wish she didn't have to do a riff on every other note.
I saw Kara last night and she does have a great voice. She inflects a bit of a pop sound into her vocals, but I thought she made it work. In short Kara is the most ideal form of stunt casting. Some of the choreography was simplified but she attempted most of it. She actually was acting, as opposed to Brinkley and Ashley Simpson (not to take away anything from the fun it was to watch those two for very different reasons!).
I've seen Chicago too many times, but the show still flies by and Kara's enthusiasm certainly aided those feelings.
Here is a new video clip of Kara during the rehearsal process, including short clips of her actual performance. from RC in Austin, Texas
Kara Does Roxie
I saw her tonight and thought she was FAN-F'IN-TASTIC. One of the best Roxie's I've seen in yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears. She's only in it until this weekend so I really suggest going this week to see her if you can.
Matthew Murray also raved about her.
I would consider going this weekend, but I really don't like Amra-Faye Wright's performance.
