How Long is Rent?

Sorry if his has been asked, I searched and couldn't find anything. I am going today for the 8:00 show (or trying at least) and I always tell myself I will see what time I get out of the show. I never do. On some sites it says it's 2 hours and 45 minutes long with an intermission. Does anyone know if this is correct? I would like to catch a 10:30 bus at the Port Authority. Can I make it? I feel so bad because I may have to leave a few minutes early and if I am in the lotto seats that would be very embarrassing.
Thanks!
You would think by the 15th times I would know

If you can't stay through all of Act II, I suggest you stand in the back for Act II. To make a bus at port authority, you'd have to leave the theater by 10:30 at the latest. A lot happens in those last 15 minutes and you are thinking about sitting up front?
Do you really want the entire theater watching you get up and leave as the show is reaching a climax? Why not bring a tuna sandwhich wrapped in plastic to eat through act I and make a full night of it.

Posted: 7/1/08 at 11:44amIf you think that your going to have to duck out early then stand in the SRO area for act two. At the Nederlander even if they aren't selling standing room the ushers aren't going to mind you standing there and won't really care or say something. You should do it that way if you have to leave early you can without being noticed and you get to sit up front for act one.

Posted: 7/1/08 at 11:59amSorry, I am being a complete pain. What if I were to take a 10:55 out of Penn Station?

Posted: 7/1/08 at 12:16pmPenn Station is alot further than the Port Authority so you would have to leave around the same time also. The P.A. is only aound 2 minutes from the theatre. You might want to take a later bus if available. Is your bus gonna be full? You should get there with at least 15 minutes to guarantee a seat on it.

Posted: 7/1/08 at 1:02pmThe show usually gets out between 10:35 and 10:40, if you run out during bows. You should be able to make a 10:45 bus, since Port Authority is literally a block away. You would be able to make the train, also, if you leave immediately. I've gone from 41st to Penn in less than 10 minutes, but I was running the whole way. That being said, I don't know if you're going to be able to get a seat on either, if you're cutting it that close.

Posted: 7/1/08 at 1:24pmThanks for all the help. Yeah I normally catch a bus from P.A. but those have always been matinees. I live only 12 miles but I can't drive. It only takes like 30 seconds to get to the Port Authority. But oh well, it turns out the person who i was gonna go with can't go.
