Is this revival just a cash grab because the film was "successful", or are they actually planning on making it different this time? They are going to need to do more than just switching the placement of a few songs to actually give audiences a reason to see this New Les Mis.

Never thought I'd say this...because I am a huge fan of LM...But do we really need to see this on Broadway again... this soon?

Personally I think they should just wait about 5 years to bring it back, if at all. Give people a chance to anticipate again...maybe.

The current touring production is "ok/good" Not the best, just good. What else can they do to improve or change what 10 million people have already seen on stages worldwide and probably as many who have seen the film last year.

I just don't understand the reason for it at this point in time.

Honestly, no mater how amazing this cast is I really can't see this revival running more than a year. Yes the movie will attract more audiences but I think New York is just done with Les Mis. The Mistake was bringing it back in 06.

This new tour was the first time I'd ever seen or heard the show, and I thought it was absolutely wonderful. That being said, I never saw the original so I have nothing to compare this to.

From what I've seen, they're pretty good. The actor who's Valijean would have to be moving with a strong voice, plus Bring Him Home would be a showstealer. Plus, it's rumored that Alfie Boe is in the talks for Valijean.

I saw the tour. While the set is pretty, it is definitely a tour set. My major problem with the set is that it was so crammed. The stage was not big enough for the massive set pieces.

Well then Cabaret can take that one home. For better or worse this production of Les Mis that is coming in is not a carbon copy of the original staging or of the first "revival," which was indeed just a slightly watered down clone of the original.

And I do like how it is just presumed that the actors will be picking up all of these nominations just based on the roles, despite the fact that exactly zero people managed to get any nominations for playing these parts in the first revival.

I'm also going to guess that it won't be eligible for best costume design, since Andreane Neofitou was already nominated for these designs back in 1987.

My hope is that Cabaret and Les Mis are joined by Gypsy and Guys & Dolls next season so we can add the category of Most Revival.
