It's one of my favorite shows on Broadway (and of all time, for that matter), but its numbers are looking quite poor. This past week was its lowest-grossing for an eight-performance week all year. How much longer do you think is safe to say?

January seems right if that slide continues.

I'd say it'll survive through the holidays and then close up, so probably January or February if they really want to stretch it.

Unless they want to transfer it, it will have to close for renovations at the st. james.

Perhaps it could take up the August Wilson after Jersey Boys packs it in? Could keep costs down since Jujamcyn owns both.

The recent multiple date listing on TDF makes me think the end is near...
It's available on TDF from Sept 20-Oct 2...
Not a good sign...

I think end of December/early January is most likely but could be sooner especially because I think I read Will Chase's contract is up in mid-October.
I wonder if producers take any sort of pride in beating their season-mates? For example, Fun Home just closed and AAIP is closing Oct 9. AAIP and SR are the last two surviving members of the 201415 season. I wonder if there's some sort of hope to beat AAIP so it can be the longest running show from its season or is that not something producers even think about?

If number of performances is how they measure success then they shouldn't be Broadway producers. An American in Paris and Something Rotten will have technically out-run Fun Home in terms of performances, but FH is the only musical production from the 2014-2015 season to have recouped its investment. And at the rate AAIP and SR's grosses are going it looks like it will remain that way.

Every single article on the St. James renovations states very clearly that the renovations will not effect the current tenant. So, no, it won't have to close for renovations.

Though at least An American in Paris and Something Rotten! could still recoup with their upcoming tours.

Doesn't mean too much but the last date on sale on their site is 1/1/17. Several open run shows have started to put up tickets well into 2017 by now.

Do you ask this question every week, and it seems every week you are never happy with the answer?

Unless a big star joins the show i don't see it being around much longer.

Didn't I read that John Stamos was supposed to replace Chase?

Will Chase is missing a hell of a lot of shows, considering his stint is only for 3 months. I follow 2 of his understudies on Instagram and they've been on a couple of times each in the last 2 weeks.
I know the show hasn't been performing well in the last few months at all, but maybe people who bought tickets to see him specifically (Nashville fans) are getting refunds when he is out, adding to the poor sales?

I know he is filming a television series in NYC. That would explain the absences. I'm not shocked they signed him even with the conflicts...he has a long history with the project.

I highly highly doubt they are offering refunds when Will Chase is out.

So sad to see it close. One of my all time favourites as well. I am looking forward to when it tours! "

Looks like Chase isn't gonna be closing out the show (though I think we knew this already).

Maybe they'll bring someone else in for the final 3 months. I'd love Eric Sciotto (the understudy) to take over full time until the end :)
