I know this is kinda an odd question, and I am by no means a clean freak but I was wondering why performers don't take showers, i mean most of them leave minutes after the show. Doesn't this make them feel nasty, especially the dancers after a show. Just curious
Because they can go home and take a shower?
Do theatres have shower facilities backstage onsite?

Probably because the showers they have at home are a whole lot nicer then the ones they have to share with other at the theater.
Most just want to get out of there for the night. Many don't live far away from the theatres at all and prefer to relax and take a shower at home.

ummm...most of them go out after the shows, most of the ones i see talk about what are they going to do after the show
but isn't it kinda gross to put on ur regular clothes i mean like ur casual clothes over ur sweaty body?
They don't ALLLL go out after the show EVERY night.
When they do plan to go out, they go home, get clean THEN go out.
Simple really.
And maybe they do shower we just don't know it. It could be like a car wash and as they come off the stage they get hosed down. lol
Yeah, they don't all go out after every single show. If they want to shower, they can stop home first.
Maybe some of them do... it's sometimes 15-20 minutes before certain cast members appear at the stage door, and they might grab a quick shower. Often they have that slicked-back, wet hair look.
Depending on the theater in NY...most have showers. Some leads have private showers, some ensamble members share bathroom facilities.
Most regional theaters and PACS have better facilities for their casts. Also, some performers wear special "undergarments" to protect their costumes and absorb persperation. Showers are optional for some depending on their circumstances.
In this instance I would say.." Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.

Cast members who arent on stage toward the end of the show often change and shower during it. Then just throw the costume on over shorts/tshirt for the curtain call.

maybe to discourage stagedoor hounds, or at least, they'll keep their distance.
Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
That made me laugh.
I usually only shower at a theater if i'm going somewhere directly from the show. Otherwise, just run home quick and then go back out if needed.
Of course... I would have no problem with Cheyenne being all sweaty and hot and sticky and ... excuse me I am having a HOT flash.

In the "backstage at Legally Blonde" video, they showed the male ensemble, and I remember one of them talking about how they take showers. So I'm sure some of them do, but at the same time, I'd rather just go home after the show.
Do they perspire that much? Even if they do though, it's cold during the winter, so the sweat will dry, so it wouldn't be so bad to wait until they get home to shower.
This is kind of an awkward topic!
Why do you care about when they shower? weird.
I would say most of them do shower before they come out to sign.
How long til the "DO ACTORS PEE IN THE SHOWERS?" thread shows up?????
Geez...........a new low...even for a Friday...
HAPPY LEAP YEAR!
I've never been on Broadway, but when I'm in a show I wait until I get home to shower. It's just more comfortable. The showers at the theatres are not always pleasant. I'll even wait to take my make-up off until I get home just because I can do a better job of it when I'm not in a rush. But, there have been times on matinee days when there's no time to get home and I have had to use the showers at the theatre. It's not fun for me.
Why do you care so much about other people's hygeine?
