Its been doing very poorly lately, so I'm wondering how long do you think it has left. I read that it only costs about 600,000 dollars a week to run the show but lately it hasn't been doing that well. How long?

I say it will close in September or January. I know Falsettos is taking the Walter Kerr in the spring zoo

I agree it will close in one of those times, but you do not know who will take the Kerr.

Jordan Roth basically hinted it in one of his daily periscopes, so unless you watched it, you dont know as much as me :)

I know enough to know that you can't trust hints.

Actually Nobody can trust you Fantod. People trust me all the time

Pinto, I have no desire to get in the middle of whatever pissing contest you're having with Fantod, but I think you need to own the fact that your record on this site for reliability is the pits. And you have not done much to disabuse anyone here of that. So if, in so faraway place where your stature has not been tarnished , people actually trust you, then I hope it is not because they are idiots.

This show is still making a lot of money, especially since it recouped, everything they make is profit and this is a cheap show to run.
I thought it was cute, but this is an example of how a Tony Award can change a show's destiny. Even if the Tony didn't help other shows, this show is open because of the Tony exclusively.

LOL my stature has not been tarnished on this site. People do, in fact, agree with many of the things I say on these boards, but you probably have not noticed because you always make it your job to disagree with everything I say. :) so suck it !

muscle, the show is not making a lot of money, though it is profitable. Recoupment does not reduce the cost of operating a show; usually it increases those costs, because usually there is a royalty pool (and other contractual provisions) pursuant to which reduced payouts pre-recoupment are exchanged for increased payouts post-recoupment.

Pinto, please. Time for a little reality check.
I agree that people sometimes agree with you here (even me), just as a stopped clock is right twice per day.

"Even if the Tony didn't help other shows, this show is open because of the Tony exclusively."
While winning the Tony clearly helped the show get noticed and take off, the reason it is still running a year after its win as opposed to other Tony winners is because it's a really good show and word of mouth has been great. It's a thoroughly entertaining crowd pleaser. Without that word of mouth, it clearly wouldn't be where it is a year after its win. That's why it's still open. To claim it's still open exclusively because of winning the Tony is as absurd and ridiculous as saying something like... Gigi is the best show playing on Broadway. But who would say something like that?

It was my impression that most everyone thinks you're an idiot.

I would be very sad to see the show close, but I am expecting if they decided to end it that it would end in January. I did wonder if the fact they recouped would play in their favor but who knows.
I do agree that this was one of those rare shows nowadays that managed to slip through the cracks barely based on solid word-of-mouth and reviews to make it to the Tonys. The Tony certainly helped solidify it, but I am amazed at how much word-of-mouth helped it.
I would love to see it go on for longer than January, so we shall see.

Philly, why would we trust you when you just told us The Chalk Garden was going in the Lyceum, right before View from the Bridge was announced?
It wouldn't surprise me if Gent's Guide packs it in soon. They've recouped.

and i still do think The Chalk Garden will open somewhere this fall. Maybe the Belasco or Brooks Atkinson

LOL why is there an ",actually" after that? Y'all underestimate me!! Jordan Roth said he's producing the Falsettos which is coming to Broadway in the spring in one of his daily periscopes so I'm 99% sure that it is coming to the Walter Kerr.

Pinto, as Kad says, it is not crazy to predict the Kerr, but it is crazy to say it is a 99% certainty. There are simply too many variables.

If only they would finally close Jersey Boys, but I do think the Kerr would be a better fit for Falsettos.

pinto, you are assuming (a) that the show will be ready in Spring '16, (b) that the Kerr will be available at that time and (c) that the show will necessarily go into a Jujamcyn theatre. None of these are unreasonable, but they do not add up to the sure thing you are suggesting.
