How can a teenager get involved with Broadway? Probably get an agent, right? Do agents take on non union performers, who will eventually become union?
I know there aren't many parts for young boys in the 13-16 range, but there are a few and the competition isn't really that rough. I was just wondering if there are any parts out there on tour or on Broadway....
hahaa don't call me stupid please

I suppose you could also try those free auditions, but loads of people go there and I'm pretty sure there's an age limit. I hear it's easier to start out on tour first. Or, do as my friend Lisa plans to do: Move to London. Be Young Cosette in Les Miserables, then move to Broadway.
Could work.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Beauty and the Beast come to mind- but you'd have to come off VERY VERY young. The problem is that its easier to pay an 18-21 year old to play a 15 year old than a 15 year old to play a 15 year old- theres lots of laws that deal with you being a minor, and protecting your rights so you dont become a child worker. My friend got to a final callback for Miss Saigon a month or two ago (she'd be the best Kim ever!) and when they got to the final 5, she was cut because she was cut. Remeber that Kim is suppose to be 17-24, and the girl that got it was... around 41. Wait until your 18, and before then audition for professional regional productions, which usually hire minors. Get a good resume and some good training.

Posted: 6/16/05 at 5:26pmYou have no idea what you are talking about. That age range has hundreds and hundreds of kids who want to do the same thing, that are talented, and surely have a ton of professional credits. There just aren't any roles. Sadly, you need pretty strong credits or a big shot uncle producer if you want to make it on Broadway at your age, and from your tone, I assume neither of those are true.
