I agree that we can't really YET call Radcliffe a 'veteran' of B'way. ONE show does not a 'veteran' make. (And I thoroughly loved him in Equus) I also agree that the kid seems have an amazing work ethic and obviously has fallen in love with live performing and is looking to do more. If his name sells tickets and gets shows produced....go for it. He seems to have the goods to back it up.
I look forward to hearing an announcement of this going forward.
The only thing Radcliffe is a veteran of is the Potter franchise.
True enough, but he was absolutely mesmerizing in Equus (and was completely robbed of a Tony nomination), and absolutely hilarious in his guest role on Extras.
I would love for this revival to happen. It seems almost too good to be true.
Am I the only one who remembers that not too long ago a lot of people were complaining Radcliffe was too young for the part, or not right type-wise, or things along those lines? Good Christ if there isn't some hypocrisy around here! One tweet from an actor and suddenly there's an about-face the size of the Emancipation Proclamation. Pick a side and stick with it!
I didn't say that Radcliff was a Broadway veteran.
If this show makes to Broadway, as a present, I will retell my story of the time when Rudy Vallee called me at 2:30 in the morning and tried to get me to....
Well.... you'll see....

I'm more excited about the supporting cast than Radcliffe.
I thought his performance in Equus was quite good; which is the only performance I have to go on since I've never seen a Harry Potter movie, but I wasn't overwhelmed by him by any means.
Personally, I would rather see Jonathan Groff as Finch.

bwayboi4life42, it seems like you just don't want to give him a chance. DHP is famous for playing an icon role too, Dr. Niles Crane, but you don't feel the need to point out how he will always be remembered for that.
There is always one role for which an actor is most remembered, that doesn't mean once you enter the theater and watch a different show you will totally believe he is this other person, which is what happened with Equus.
You don't even have to see him acting to see Radcliffe would be perfect to do comedy, just watch his interviews. Or his episode in Extras, or the last HP film...
I don't think anyone was really trying to say he is a veteran, you all blew that comment out of proportion. But I don't think you should understimate that whole HP experience. This boy has spent more than 10 years in a film set, seeing some of the most amazing British actors working, that has to be the best acting school in the world. And not only acting, I wouldn't be surprised if one day he starts to direct, write or produce films or plays.
About the age, for what I've read he will be filming the last HP film until year year, so by the time they do this he will be older. Plus, a younger Finch could give the musical a fresher, up to date feel.
This revival sounds great, I don't know who did the casting but it's genius, I wouldn't change a single name.

If you can absorb talent, no one has had a chance to absorb more in his formative years than Radcliffe, since the Potter franchise is a virtual Who's Who of renowed adult actors.
Radcliffe really should be applauded for continuing to challenge himself, as opposed to sitting back and making cheap comedies aimed at tweens. As well as for embracing the stage so much. It's good to have a high-profile, teenage rising star who seems so enthusiastic for doing theatre.
He may not be a "veteran", but he's certainly on his way to being something great.
You're right, micka30, I don't like Harry Potter him.

Here's my vote for Loretta Swit to play Rosemary. Could anything else be more sublime?
