Yikes, now that I wish I knew in advance... I am seeing JCM sing Hedwig Friday and Saturday nights in NYC so I didn't think i could see Hugh, but a matinee I could swing...
Or not. Guess I'll be watching for StubHub and producer holds...

Plenty of tickets near the stage available from $618 to $784 at MSG. This is a greedy tour a performer like Hugh belongs in a theatre not on a big tv screen.
I'm glad that he's doing the tour and I hope that all venues sell well, but I'll keep my memories of his show at San Francisco's Curran theatre prior to the Broadway run. Great moderately priced seats for my group and the production was entertaining, the star charismatic and charming.

My co-worker showed me the email confirmation from the HB with this renewal, and the HJ tickets included - this was before the official on sale date for subscribers last week. His family has "owned" the same Garden Box for over 5 decades, and he's grandfathered in to extra perks for being such a long time subscriber. He also gets free parking there, as well."
Not one longtime subscriber I know was able to get tickets before the on sale date for subscribers a week ago . How weird . Anyway ... I just wanted to discuss sales and marketing since I would have thought this would be a immediate sell out. I am not making any judgement on him or the show or ticket prices ; which are very reasonable at the Bowl. Just something to talk about. Thrilled to be attending.

Honestly, when this was announced I was super excited and immediately made plans to buy tickets. Then Hugh did his performance of The Greatest Show on The Today Show...and it was...not good. I love him and The Greatest Showman, but that performance felt so awkward and wooden, and his singing didn't sound great. After that I couldn't stomach paying lots of $$$ to see more of the same live, and decided against buying tickets. I have at least one other friend who had the same reaction.

Get a cheap ticket. Wait for last minute stub hub . Warren Carlyle is putting it together . I bet it will be a good show.

I try to talk myself out of things I can't afford by saying how bad they'll be, too...
Sho-Tunes-R-Us, I also saw his show in San Francisco. The afternoon I saw it, his wife and children were in the audience. Saw the show again in NYC, and again here in Hollywood at The Dolby Theatre for a One Night Only performance in Oct 2013. So good. He's so effortless and polished and doesn't take himself seriously at all.
The last place Hugh Jackman belongs is MSG. He belongs in a Broadway theater or some other smaller venue. I pass.

If that were true, why is it pretty much sold out?
Now you may prefer SEEING him in a more intimate venue, but that is a different thing.

I'm very impressed how well the Toronto show has sold in such a short period of time.

He is only about 50 % sold at the Hollywood Bowl. Which is what I intended this thread to be about.

Not sure how much else there is to say about it... it's a bigger problem for him in June than it is in December.
Thread rigidity is not a BWW strong suit.
I had assumed that this would be just Mr. Jackman backed by an orchestra. But then I did some Googling. This may be old news to others, but his orchestra will have 26 musicians, and there will be "around" 30 singers and dancers. This is gonna be a show !

WORD!
The Detroit show is nearly sold out, very few tickets available and I dont see any verified resale. On top of that, I havent seen much publicity so there obviously is a demand.
I didnt know about this until just now. I usually wait until they mail out that huge fold out calendar to see whats going on. I agree itll most likely sell out, especially if word of mouth from previous tour stops is good.

Yes.. No one knows about it, I am thinking I should have worded my thread differently .

Yes. I'd say he's prob 85% sold and most of the special jewel and platinum packages r gone. ( not all if u have an extra 600 lying around) fair number of side seats in the mezz seats in the 100 range avail and few scattered singles in the nose bleeds.

Just not a huge fan of his.
I thought he sounded okay in that clip though.
Hearing that song again though reminded me how meh I thought the movie was.
But I guess this isnt the unpopular views you hold thread. Sorry.

I agree, but that is actually how he always performs. The question is not whether or not he isn't that good, the question is when people will realize it.

To each his own
His fanbase has grown further with THE GREATEST SHOWMAN. We now know that the movie musical, despite the critical reaction, became the Cinderella story in the USA and worldwide box office.
As for the music --
Per RIAA certification --

If you trawl through it, at least for 2018, here are some interesting accomplishments for Hugh and his co-stars:
*The soundtrack album was certified as 2x Platinum ( at least 2 million in sales) by August. No update available since then. This is for the USA alone.
*Platinum singles ( at least 1 million) for This Is Me/RewriteTheStars/TheGreatest Show/AMillion Dreams//Never Enough... and Gold singles( at least 500,000) for The Other Side, Come Alive, and From Now On.
In the UK, the soundtrack has reclaimed top spot on the Official Charts ( 23 weeks as #1, including the past and current week) with 5x Platinum ( at least 1.5 Million in sales). Btw, his Tour includes 5 shows at the O2 Arena in London, 3 shows each at Manchester and at Birmingham.

It is interesting to note that according to Pasek and Paul, they suggested to Hugh to look up Liz Caplan for singing lessons/techniques for the TGS film project, which led to a more contemporary/pop sound (which was what the soundtrack demanded). Prior to that, Hugh's longtime voice teacher was Joan Lader.
While the Music Tour will include from both stage and film musicals that he has been involved in, it looks like he is exploring performing with other stars of pop music ( if they agree to join him) such as Pink, Kelly Clarkson ( both of whom did covers for "TGS Reimagined" ). But he also says that Keala will appear in some of the shows. Who knows if the pop stars can join him for some of his shows ( as some, like Pink, will have concurrent music tours). For the Hollywood Bowl, he says that James Corden has tentatively said Yes to join him, presumably for some lighthearted moments ( Remember their Crosswalk Musical featuring The Greatest Showman?).
Whoever else joins him to spice up the show, Hugh will definitely be enough attraction for ticket sales to go well as the dates come closer. Warren Carlyle ( with whom he has worked since Oklahoma! in London) is putting the show together, presumably with some assistance from the choreographer of TGS, Ashley Wallen, as the latter posted photos of their rehearsals for the TODAY show. Also, one of the most applauded dancers in the movie, Mishay Petronelli ( the albino lady who danced up a storm in From Now On) was part of his backup dancers at the Today Show. So, it will not be all singing - the show will feature both singing and dancing!
