Many venues are sold out or nearly so.and deservedly so. HJ won every theater accolade in sight for his dazzling performance in The Boy from Oz. His Back on Broadway garnered rapturous reviews from Ben Brantley on down and was packed at every show. Earlier, he was Olivier nominated for Oklahoma! in London. He was Oscar nominated for Les Miz.
Of course, no actor/performer is beloved by everyone, as appreciation is a subjective thing. Those who seem to get a kick out of denigrating HJ are entitled to their opinions. But it is ludicrous, in light of his demonstrated consistent box office appeal and the fact that every Broadway producer would love to sign him up, to state flatly that he is not good. No one who fits that description could ever have accomplished what HJ has in both theater and films. The facts speak for themselves, both in terms of box office and awards bodies. Worldwide appeal does not accrue to a subpar performer.

Very often, it does.
I have learned that talent and fame have nothing to do with each other.
I don't deny that the movie and media machine made him well known/is trying to make him a so called "star", but his singing performances in film are often not just subpar but right out embarrassing. I am not talking about his acting performance here. I believe he can act, but when he tries to sing it harms his acting performance. But acting and live concerts as a singer like this, also have nothing to do with eachother. Just because people have made up someone is a star doesn't mean one can pull this off.
People can be flocking in to see "the guy from the movies" in real life, but people (even fans) are already disappointed by his live performances.
I'm not saying there isn't a market for that, clearly there are a few people buying tickets, and some people might be easily sold on fame, but to me it's the same category as going to a Susan Boyle concert or Britney Spears nowadays. Yes, people buy tickets, but more people than not would say the performances are subpar.

He was originally billed for only 2 shows at the O2 Arena ( bigger than MSG) in London, but 3 additional shows were added because of very strong ticket demand. For the Manchester Arena ( which sits even larger than the O2), he was originally booked for only 1 show and that has now become 3 performances. Same is true for Birmingham ( original solo show has now become 3 dates). The 2-date Dublin show has been officially declared as Sold Out. Those were the early reports. And we also know that a matinee performance was added later on for MSG, presumably after seeing the pattern of ticket sales for the Friday-Saturday evening shows?

Much ado about absolutely nothing. The original commentator needs to come clean with his/her real motivations.

In the original post and title of the thread she is very clear she is talking about the Hollywood Bowl. And she is correct . Plenty of seats . But your misinformed hysterics are hilarious.

My tickets arrived in the mail today. Checked this afternoon, and all the seats in and near my section are sold out. No surprise.

Good for you. This thread is still referring to the Hollywood Bowl. Which is nowhere near sold out.

Threads can develop a life of their own. Deal with it (or not, I really don't care).

I would love him to step into Chicago for a month[or 2]--it is a part that is perfect for him now even though he turned down the movie back then-[to his regret I read].

Really torn about this. I LOVE Hugh, have seen every show he's done in NYC, and now that I live in LA could easily go to the HB (which I finally got to this year, an amazing venue). But my husband is not happy with the crazy ticket prices, and I don't want to sit in the last row of this massive place.
Perhaps I should just buy myself a very expensive holiday gift...

I think a vast minority of this thread is about the Hollywood Bowl.

But the part that is... is still there. I just find it funny how quickly everyone clutched their pearls!

I think the thread went off course when a few started to act like the tour was the END of Hugh Jackman's career and the WORST mistake he could ever make.

Things go off the rails around here because people say things like:
"I dont know where your all looking at; but there are plenty of seats available . No near sell outs except maybe New York and the smaller Detroit venue ."
Which is very clearly talking about the whole tour and then they say things like:
"Good for you. This thread is still referring to the Hollywood Bowl. Which is nowhere near sold out."
And dismiss others even as they refuse to acknowledge they misspoke or they're contradicting themselves. (and THEN say I don't even care. You people are all silly because you care so much)
DAME was mostly straightforward and took responsibility for their opinion. I appreciate that. DAME usually is honest and is mostly only sassy when it's warranted. Things would go off the rails less if we we all had a little more DAME in us.

Thanks for posting! All good stuff. I would be super happy for any of those "special guest stars" to appear at the concert here in So Cal.
