I saw him tonight as Melchoir and I really enjoyed him. He was incredibly believable and really a joy to watch. Good luck to him on his run!
Gerard was great too. Had a LOT of energy (as well as sweat and spit) but again, was very believable and i was hanging on to his every word.
He's gorgeous.
He's got that 1970's cutie thing going on. Kind of like Mark Hamill in the first Star Wars film.
He sounds good! Thanks for sharing this.
Yay, I got tickets to see him tonight.
For those that have seen him, does he come out after the show to sign/take pics? I actually saw him walking down 43rd on Sunday the 3rd after seeing Young Frankenstein. He is so cute (and tiny!).
Brief thoughts:
I liked the show so much better this time. (The last time I saw it was the second preview on Broadway). I still have significant issues with it, but I enjoyed it a lot more the second time, and would happily go back in the future.
Loved Hunter. Loved loved loved him. He's adorable, his voice is lovely, and most importantly with a part that's underwritten the way Melchior is, he's a very good actor. I hope to see him again later in his run.
I liked Alexandra Socha a lot -- and much better than Lea Michele. She was much more believably young and naive. She has a pretty voice, but it's not as strong as Lea's. If we could stick Lea's singing voice onto Alexandra's performance acting-wise, we'd be in business. But she sang more than well enough.
Glad you liked it, emcee.
Just curious - what did you think about Gerard as Moritz?
I thought he was really good. Obviously no comparison to Gallagher, but I enjoyed his performance as well.
But seriously, it's all about Silas.

Glad you liked it! What did you think of the rest of the cast?

God, I hope this goes well, because from what I've seen on the OBC and from Parrish on Weeds, he could be perfection. gorgeous.
I thought they were fine. No major complaints, but no particular non-lead standouts for me, either. I didn't even realize everyone had left until like... yesterday.
emcee, where is your av from?

I saw the show tonight and I thought the show was even better than the first time I had seen it! Hunter was great, especially for only his 5th show. Gerard was awesome as Moritz, and Alexandra was amazing as Wendla...especially in the acting department. The whole new cast is amazing, yet very different from the old cast. Amanda Castanos did an amazing job in the dark I know well. Emma was amazing as always, as was the rest ofthe cast. One thing I will say is that this cast looks much younger than the last one!
Blake Bashoff left? I loved him and Socha, sounds like with Parrish the cast would have been phenom.
He's doing the tour, I think?
Oh yeah I forgot about that. Hopefully I'll catch him again on tour...[and Riabko will be out :X]
So anyone know when Hunter's leaving?
I saw him his second night. I was really impressed, i had no idea he had just started the role. It was my first time seeing Spring Awakening so I can't compare him too well, but he is very talented. Alexandra Socha blew my mind. I counldn't believe she was just 18.

Saw Hunter on Wednesday night. He was FABULOUS. Definitely just as good as Groff (forget Kyle), if not even better. I really thought he was legitimately fantastic. Great performance, wonderful singing, and he really had a great connection with Gerard and Alexandra. And such a nice personality at the stage door!
Also, I was onstage, so it was a ton of fun to be that close to him...
There's a new video of him being interviewed outside the theatre on the Spring Awakening site: http://www.springawakening.com/home.php
"and... you get to see my butt." Oh Hunter.
Just got back from seeing the show a fifth time...it's still amazing. I love it so much.
Hunter was excellent...leagues better than Riabko was. But not as good as Groff, obviously. And you could tell he was struggling with some of the songs (does he smoke? it sounded like it). His acting was strong (a really different take on Melchior that worked...strong but still somewhat vulnerable, and with a totally noticeable character arc).
The rest of the cast was good (Socha was not very good though...off pitch the entire time during 'Whispering'...she was really meek and quiet and didn't register at all. I absolutely adored Lea Michele in the role --I think I remember saying it was the best performance by a female in a show that year ...before I saw Christine Ebersole-- and Socha doesn't even begin to compare. She tried to take a different route with the role but it was so uneffective and really unbelievable).
And tonight's audience was obviously full of tourists freaking screaming with laughter during the beating scene...and after it when it's obviously supposed to be serious and somber. Oh! And a woman sat the back row on her laptop during the show...I don't know if she had something to do with the show or whatever but she was typing during the show...and it pissed me off.
But yeah, Parrish is actually very strong...I just fear that his voice won't hold up for eight shows a week. Watch his attendance...I doubt it's going to be consistent. I hope I'm wrong though.

You should've reported the laptop. It's actually illegal in NY to do that, with the show, not with the show... If you bought a seat, and she was near you, you have rights. A friend of mine was bugged by a woman who used her blackberry for the whole first act of GREY GARDENs. He complained, the woman was asked to put it away or leave -- she left.
