https://www.broadwayworld.com/l.cfm?id=44589 Hi room. This is Brian Noonan...The Preacher in Stephen Cole and Claibe Richardson's Night of the Hunter. I just wanted to write in and encourage theater audiences to see this new kind of musical that is very much off the beaten path of your conventional Broadway Musical. I feel incredibly fortunate to sing this lush score and amazing book, and to be a part of another production with the amazingly talented Stephen Cole. I would love to hear back from audiences who have the seen the show and hope to see it. Thanks, Brian Noonan
I saw you as Enjolras, Joe Cable, and now have seen you as the Preacher. I have to say you were one of the most perfectly cast people I've ever seen in live theatre. My friend and I kept saying, "Creeeepy..." as we left the theatre. No, we did not boo you at the curtain call, but I hope you're taking the boos as a compliment. :) Bravo!
(And actually, she and I are friends partly because she mentioned having seen you as Cable, and the ensuing conversation resulted in us becoming really good friends.)
I live close to the Willows, but don't know if I'll get to see the show again -- at least all of us who see it there will have bragging rights if/when it makes it big. :)
Thanks for your kind words Mussetta. This role is certainly is a dream role for any singer, and I hope to continue to bring new things to the table. If you make it back sometime, stop by and say hi at the stage door. Brian P.S. Keep the word out there about the show!
I had the opportunity to see "Night of the Hunter" this weekend. It was an interesting experience to see a musical that is in the process of developing.
There were parts of the musical that I really enjoyed, and parts that seemed to need more work. It seemed a little slow getting going, and some characters were better defined than others. But overall, it was very, very creepy, which is a strange feeling to have walking out of a musical, but as I assume that is the intent, it succeeds.
I must say that it was your portrayal that really made the show extra-creepy, but in a good sort of way. Good luck with the show!
'"Contrairiwise," continued Tweedledee, "if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic."'
~Lewis Carroll
Brian, I saw "Night of the Hunter" on Saturday night, and was quite impressed! Your performance was so powerful and, well...brilliant. You are just the ideal actor for the part of the preacher. In fact, the entire company was extremely well cast. I was especially taken by the little girl who plays Pearl (I'm sorry that I don't remember her name). It was amazing to see a child so young turn in such a complete performance.
I don't agree with the Chronicle's view of the score...I thought it was rich and a perfect vehicle in telling the story. The closing of the first act was very powerful, both the music and the lighting effects.
Hey Jon. Thanks for your posting....isn't that Pearl a great little actress...Believe me, no one feels worse than i do during that....well....evil scene!!! Her name is Julia Franks. Secondly, I totally agree with you about the score... Claibe Richardson wrote an amazing score that propels the story so well. If you come back, stop by and say HI! Yours, Brian
I realized this morning that the link I posted yesterday is actually quite a spoiler. Even though it is a good review of the show (the headline is "'Night's' bright future"), it gives away the entire plot. So, if you haven't seen the movie and want to add to the suspense of the show, I'd wait to read the CC Times review until after you see it. Sorry not to mention this in my first post!
