As I sit celebrating Easter by watching the Addams Family movie, I can't help but notice how hilariously theatrical it is, mainly due to Danny Elfman's brilliant score. This got me thinking, if there were ever to be a musical version, who would be in it? This is what I thought...
Gomez Addams: Raul Esparza
Morticia Addams: Julia Murney
Uncle Fester: Schuler Hensley
Lurch: John Bolton
Grandma: Andrea Martin
Thing: Patti LuPone's right hand....
In addition, Joe Mantello to direct, book by Jeffrey Lane with a score by Marc Shaiman. Bob Crowley to design sets, Susan Hilferty to design costumes, Casey Nicholaw to choreograph, Natasha Katz to design the lighting. How could it fail?
What/who do you guys think?

actually, Khashoggi, Danny Elfman didn't score The Addams Family movies, in fact it was Marc Shaiman!
and yes kasie and lakezurich are superhottmesstrannyfierce.

Wow, I didn't realize Marc Shaiman scored the movies, my mistake. I also didn't realize that there was an Addams Family musical in the works, Lippa will do an amazing version.
This still leaves the casting up for discussion! Another thought for a possible Gomez would be Tom Hewitt? Its about time he was on Broadway in a successful show. I love the idea of Norbert as Fester, or possibly Michael Cerveris? :P

Posted: 3/24/08 at 2:11pmWhile we're being hypothetical, this would be a perfect vehicle to get Sara Ramirez back onstage as Morticia though I know she's signed with Greys Anatomy for awhile and is making way more money and is getting better publicity than she could in New York. Regardless, a fine choice :)
