That's about all there is too it. For these reasons:
1) Lovely voice
2) One of two saving graces to the "Chorus Line" film (the other being Charles McGowan)
3) A Fantastic Beast and Frank n Furter
4) Easy on the eyes.
Anyone else agree?

I remember being thrilled that I got to see him as Javert and am still happy with that outcome because he IS Javert to me.

I wanna see a musical with him and Tim Curry (who oddly always remind me of each other) as psychotic brothers
hey with Cronenberg making an opera based on his The Fly howabout a musical of his Dead Ringers with these two as the twin psycho gynecologists?

EricMontreal-
I have ALWAYS thought they looked alike, which is why I loved he did Frank.

I don't think they look or sound alike, but for some reason when I think of one I think of the other. Maybe just because of the Frank match...who knows?
But yes. I love him too!
I saw him in his last performance of Les Mis when he came back before it closed. I had no idea he was the original till later. I remember asking for his autograph afterwards, then looking into eyes and almost forgetting to tell him that I loved his performance. I mean, i got lost in those eyes. I remember he smiled too. he was so sweet.
Then I found out he was the original Beast too, and I had no idea, and freaked out.
gotta love that guy!
It took me a long time to realize he originated both Rum Tum Tugger in Cats and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, but I love him in both shows, not to mention Les Miserables. The only time I got to see him live was in Lennon. I hope he comes back to Broadway soon! And yes, he really does remind me of Tim Curry, especially when comparing pictures from the 80's

Terrence Mann is one of my favorite Broadway men of all time (or at least, of MY time). He is a great singer and such a strong actor. I've always loved his powerful stage presence.
He needs a new Broadway show. Please!

husk charmer, you forgot "Assassins"--Terrence Mann was the original Csolgosz! (And I probably just butchered that spelling...oh well)
I saw him in Sound Of Music as Captain Von Trapp in Seattle, and actually our voice studio had a little master class with him, which was awesome. He is a super nice, sincere guy, and so big and tall up close. I remember being shocked by how tall he was.
I completely agree. He is so handsome, and now with that grey hair, yum. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to him several years ago when I chaperoned a group of students to see the tour of Romeo and Juliet, which he directed, and I think, co-wrote.
He talked to the kids, who were doing a production of the play themselves, and actually did a good job with it. He was personable and so genuine. He told us to call him Terry. Such a gentleman.
Wow, I know Terrence has been around the theatre a long time, but I had no idea he co-wrote Romeo and Juliet! And Shakespeare gets all the credit!
Seriously, though, I've seen him in Cats, Les Mis, Beauty and the Beast (the first week, we thought it would close the second), The Scarlet Pimpernel, Assassins, Lennon, and I remember hating his character (The Ringmaster) in Barnum but being awed by his performance. It was one of my learning experiences, separating a role from a performance. Hey, I was young. Once.
I'm glad he's getting some exposure on The Dresden Files, I loved the books and was wary about the casting until I heard he'd be playing Bob. In the books, Bob is just the talking skull, it's good to see more of Terrence than that!

Call me clueless, but what are The Dresden Files? If Terrence is working on a new project, I have to check it out.
Love him!

It's a new show on the Sci Fi channel, but I think they may also be running episodes on the USA network as well. It's based on a series of books by Jim Butcher, a fun read if you like supernatural and detective stories. Terrence is awesome.
meh...never was too impressed.
Yes, he is married to D'Amboise. I've always enjoyed his performances, except in THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL. He appeared bored throughout, and annoyed that he had to be there at all. Now I know TSP was not a great show, but with everybody else on stage giving it their all, Mann really stood out, and not in a good way. But as I said, that was the only time I haven't admired this performer.
He ruined BATB for me.
Did he really ruin BatB? Steve Blanchard ruins it for me these days.
I only saw Mann in the role, so cannot compare. I found his singing very mediocre, and his only characterization that I could tell was a very slobbery line delivery.
Terry Mann co-wrote the musical with Jerome Korman using William Shakepeare's original words for his musical version of ROMEO & JULIET, which originally starred a young Patrick Wilson and Irene Molloy (who was the lead in the US version of WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND).

who did Minnie Fay play?
(sorry, couldnt resist)
nice to see a Terry chat thread !
I concur...he's the best.
I just spent 3 weeks working with him in NC. He's an honorary chair at WCU and had me down in Feb. to play Harold Hill in Music Man, which he's directed a couple times...last with Gary Beach ! ...he was wonderful, and he's just my hero. What a guy. He made it a great show....and treats everyone like professionals....even the 8 year olds in the cast. Not to mention...he's just a brilliant director! full of ideas.
Class act.
here are some fun rehersal pics from NC:
