Just downloaded it from iTunes...
(Redemption of old Christmas iTunes gift cards completed!)
I'm enjoying it so far!
And anxious to see the advanced screening in SF tomorrow (July 16) night.
Nikki is just a ball of everything delicious and fun. She sounds perfect! Nothing but energy and bubbly and I can see her dancing in front of the microphone in the recording studio.
Elijah won me over with "Run and Tell That" (always one of my favorite songs).
What's the context of "The New Girl in Town" in the film?
EDIT: Wow, I really don't like the way Travolta sounds. At all. The minute I saw him in the teaser video trailers I was like "Oh no..." but wanted to hope it was my speakers or something wrong with my ears. But it's really intolerable. Sounds like he's speaking (and singing) with his chin tucked to his neck and under three-layers of sweaters. His dialogue/singing slows down the tempo and feel of each song. Plus it's so inconsistent in each song he's in. I hate to say it, but I know which songs I'm gonna be "skipping over" when listening to this on my iPod in the coming months (which sucks because I used to like those songs). Is it merely because Travolta is "Travolta" that no one on-set (or in coaching) told him: "Sorry dude, but bad character voice choice... let's work on that, okay?"
HOTDAMN! Queen La-freakin'-tifah! Can we please get this woman a one-night-only special concert on Broadway or something? This lady's got too much fuel in her tank to only be used on smash movie-musicals! She sounds fantastic!
I have to be awake for work 7-hrs from now but I can't go to sleep because I can't stop listening to "You Can't Stop the Beat" and love learning the new verses and lyrics slipped in here and there throughout the album!
