Dear amoni,

the lyric actually is "...your Mama's lookin' at herself and wondering 'where you been?'"

although your version "your mama's looking at a seven wonder where you been?" is perfectly acceptable!

I can't stop listening to it. It makes me giggle - odd thing since I am over 40 years old! The dialogue before Welcome to the 60's tugs at my heart - "I don't want to be seen like this, the neighbors have not seen me since I was a size 10".

Now I just wonder which of the three new songs will get Marc the Oscar!

Sorry Marc, the musical endorphins are messing with my mind. This is musical crack. Guess you won't be seeing me on "The Singing Bee" anytime soon.

It's number 8 on iTunes now! (on the homepage.)

edit: on albums.
"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster. "Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."

Hairspray is the number one soundtrack on the soundtrack page!

Just downloaded it from iTunes...
(Redemption of old Christmas iTunes gift cards completed!)
I'm enjoying it so far!
And anxious to see the advanced screening in SF tomorrow (July 16) night.

Nikki is just a ball of everything delicious and fun. She sounds perfect! Nothing but energy and bubbly and I can see her dancing in front of the microphone in the recording studio.

Elijah won me over with "Run and Tell That" (always one of my favorite songs).

What's the context of "The New Girl in Town" in the film?

EDIT: Wow, I really don't like the way Travolta sounds. At all. The minute I saw him in the teaser video trailers I was like "Oh no..." but wanted to hope it was my speakers or something wrong with my ears. But it's really intolerable. Sounds like he's speaking (and singing) with his chin tucked to his neck and under three-layers of sweaters. His dialogue/singing slows down the tempo and feel of each song. Plus it's so inconsistent in each song he's in. I hate to say it, but I know which songs I'm gonna be "skipping over" when listening to this on my iPod in the coming months (which sucks because I used to like those songs). Is it merely because Travolta is "Travolta" that no one on-set (or in coaching) told him: "Sorry dude, but bad character voice choice... let's work on that, okay?"

HOTDAMN! Queen La-freakin'-tifah! Can we please get this woman a one-night-only special concert on Broadway or something? This lady's got too much fuel in her tank to only be used on smash movie-musicals! She sounds fantastic!

I have to be awake for work 7-hrs from now but I can't go to sleep because I can't stop listening to "You Can't Stop the Beat" and love learning the new verses and lyrics slipped in here and there throughout the album!

I am unsure about Travolta on the recording but will see how it all fits together on screen.

That said I still absolutely cannot bear Harvey's voice on the OBC recording and skip the bits with him on Yet live on stage he was a wonder that despite a dreadful voice it all somehow worked as an entire package.
