I actually agree with that. I find the OCR very poorly produced. It is a totally flat recording. They should've had a rock producer on that album. Could've been sweet.
Thanks for validating me snarky I too, think they should gotten a rock producer and just recorded the show live and not in a studio. But I am happy they preserved the show with a CD.

I became a Fanadu as well, and sat onstage a bunch of times, that was thrilling! While the OCR is not perfect, I listen to it a lot because it makes me so happy and Cheyenne sounds so amazing. As a matter of fact, I became a Cheyennetologist during the run of the show, well just because. The beautiful book on the making of the show is a treasure, I bought it near the end of the run and had gotten everybody to sign except for Anika Larsen (who was just in Avenue Q), and she signed it for me a few weeks ago. Patti Murin and Kate LoPrest took over her part. Wonderful cast, the most entertaining, enjoyable show I've ever seen on Broadway. I miss it every day.
The OBCR didnt do the show justice at all !!! A number of the castmembers didnt even like it !!

Really? Who are they and why were they so disappointed?
I must say that one of the only flaws with the Broadway production was the sound design in the theater, it was pretty god-awful. I saw the show many times with different people and more than one complained about the sound.
"What is this place, some kind of spa?"
Yes a glittery happy place where everyone wears leg warmers! LOL!!

dlass, I concur. Nothing quite as thrilling as Mary rising from the smoke and singing her first notes..."and the dawn breaks AACCCCRRROSSSSSSSSS the sky.!" :)
I saw it on Broadway and in Chicago and I only wish I could see it again. Both times I left on such a high.

I saw it twice in Chicago. I'm so sad it didn't stay here longer. It was so much fun.

"Patti Murin and Kate LoPrest took over her part."
"Actually it was just Patti Murin. Kate Loprest was the swing."
WHATEVER.
I was lucky enough to see Anika, Patti and Kate play the part of Euterpe, Siren, '80s singer and Thetis, and they all signed my book, which as I mentioned before, is a treasured remembrance of a fabulous show. I also saw Ryan Watkinson, Kyle Dean Massey and Jacob ben Widmar as well as the original (and the best dancer, IMHO), Curtis Holbrook play Thalia, Siren, Young Danny, '80s singer and Cyclops. And I saw Whoopi Goldberg twice when Jackie Hoffman was on vacation and Annie Golden once when Mary Testa was on vacation. Fortunately, Cheyenne Jackson appeared as Sonny every time I saw the show and I wish I could see it again.
"Why do I feel so alive when you're near,
There's no way any hurt can get through..."

I feel blessed for having seen Curtis go on as Sonny. Cheyenne was great and all but it was nice to see another take on the role.
WHATEVER
The proper response here would have been "Oh, ILuvYou, I was mistaken and I appreciate you correcting me. Thank you."
I loved Xanadu as well, and wish I could see it again. It was sad going in its final week.

I think that was another cool aspect of Xanadu...the rotating cast. It seemed like everytime I saw it there was a different person filling in a certain role, and a different take on the roles. They were all having so much fun, I never cared it was an understudy.

I stand by "whatever." It's people like you, Eris0303, that give these chat boards a bad name. You're welcome.

Oh, step off. Is that the best you can come up with? She wasn't the one who was rude, so your statement makes no sense.

My life was made when Andre went on in Mary's track.
Both times I saw the show, I sat in the popcorn seats!
blockhead, i would have killed to see andre in mary's track...how awesome was that? :)
I saw the show once on Broadway with Kerry and Curtis (made my life, even though Cheyenne wasn't there), and twice in Chicago. Easily one of the most fun, uplifting shows I've seen, and I definitely miss it.

It.was.hilarious! Whoopi was in the show and they had great chemistry.I remember reading the playbill the first time I saw the show and hoped that it would happen so badly!
That show was such a saving grace to me when I lived in NYC, struggling to find work, life and myself. Always will have a special place in my heart. I actually saw James, Curtis and Mr. Jackson.
"Cheyennetologist"---LOVE IT!
