I could say I never saw ANOTHER thread about this being posted coming, but I'd be lying.
Wow! After all the shows Linda has been involved with, it wasn't until she got the gig as LuPone's standby in the current revival of GYPSY that a certain buzz has been attached to her name.
Took some time, but its happening!
The only reason there's a buzz here over it because when I posted this was happening the other night, the mods kept deleting it.
I can't wait to hear a report of how she is as Madame Rose...
Because i'm personally in the camp of those who found her absolutely intolerable in "The Pirate Queen".
Best of luck to her!
What a dreadful actress. Let's hope Patti doesn't miss another performance for the rest of the run.
I'm kind of confused by this. Given Patti's stellar attendance record, why would the producers want to hire someone as a standby rather than just have someone already in the cast do it? And I'm also guessing that Linda Balgord is not working for scale. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Re: "I can't wait to see Balgord . . . " I think you'd be the only one in the audience rejoicing if it was announced that Patti were not appearing. Nothing against Balgord, but Patti gave such an amazing showing of herself at the Tonys and has deservedly received such good buzz that it would be tantamount to an understudy going on for Hugh Jackman in The Boy from Oz.
WannaBe, I couldn't agree with you more.
Honestly, I know it would be unfair to Benanti, Gaines, Larkin and everybody else involved, but I feel that if Patti is out they should just cancel the performance like they would do with BOY FROM OZ when Jackman was out, and like they did with 110 IN THE SHADE and THE APPLE TREE.
your right, hardly anyone goes to that show without only wanting to see Patti
