Patti LuPone isn't going to be an alternate or replacement in a production that she was originally involved with, she doesn't play second fiddle.

Let's add Nathan Lane to the mix, he can deff play it if he wanted to but it's probably not a large enough or meaty enough role. Nor for a Mandy Patinkin. How's about Kris Kristofferson or Jeff Bridges or Kevin Kline or Richard Gere? Better yet let's go non/ traditional on the rest of the casting - that would certainly wake up the old chestnut and be be in line with who Bette is. Give us a Dolly for today perk it up a bit.

Can anyone explain Patti's connection with this revival? I know it was rumored a while back she would take on Dolly but is there more to the story? I personally would love to see her Dolly.

Let's remember that Horace is a supporting role with one song that isn't even a solo. No big star is going to play second fiddle to Bette. Let's think more along the lines of Richard Kind or Lewis J. Stadlin, who was, from all accounts, tremendous in the role recently in Florida.

Richard Kind is a good choice!
