Idina released a new song from her album 'Small World'. I feel like this is the sound she should've kept. It's much more contemporary and doesn't try to go too pop on it. Definitely worth checking out
I really enjoy her solo stuff, and I always felt the "she's trying to be a pop star" criticism was disingenuous. Sure, the first album back in 1998 was a huge swing (and a miss) to become a radio pop star. But since then, it has always looked to me that she's writing/recording the music that makes her happy. Sure she wants it to be successful, but I never got the impression that she went in to record "Here" and "I Stand" and consciously thought "These songs will do GREAT on top 40 radio!"

"Small World" is my favorite of the new songs she's released so far.
The song is definitely pop, but in the best possible way. I love it. Idina sounds beautiful and this kind of big, sweeping vocal pop is where she shines most. It almost sounds like it should be the theme song to a James Cameron film or something. Definitely the best track so far from the album.

No joke, the first thing I said when I heard it was, "This sounds like a movie song!"
And I love it.
