BroadwayGirl107~ I LOVE your sig! Did she say that at one of her concerts? Ya gotta love Idina.
Yeah, she said it Saturday night. Gotta love her. :)
I wish I could go! *pines* She should come to NC! She has plenty of fans here.

If only I could go I would die. When I saw her in Wicked I almost wet my pants and if I ever get to see her as herself (which I have heard is awesome) I think I would die. Well, have fun everyone else and post about how the rest of her concerts are.
broadwaygirl- were you there Saturday?
Yes, Friday and Saturday.
And...apparently Sunday Idina sang "Like A Prayer" as her encore instead of "You'd Be Surprised." It sounds great.

What time did you get there Friday? I was there selling tickets.
oh, I would have just missed you Friday.
To follow up the post that started this thread... I saw Idina walking around town with Taye on Sunday morning. You have to understand, those of you who haven't been to P-Town, there's really one street in the town, Commercial, where all of the action is. It's all galleries, shops and restaurants. When an artist plays there, it's a generally accepted rule that thy're going to walk around town and attract attention. Ptown has 40,000 tourists on any given summer day, and all of the acts, from Margaret Cho to Judy Gold to Kate Clinton are very gracious and walk the streets expecting to be recognized and approached. When my partner spotted idina, it was on the morning of the last day of our stay, so I said "F*CK it" and decided to say hello to Idina. I completely ignored Taye, mainly because I couldn't care less about his stupid Kevin Hill ass (We know where the talent is in that relationship...) So I said hey and sorry to bother you but you were ****ing awesome and thanks. Taye pulled her by the hand and she managed to turn around and say thanks with a half hearted wave. I was like, what the ****? When I bumped into Margaret Cho last year, we talked for like 20 minutes. So basically, Taye was a big jerk and Idina didn't even care much to be recognized and appreciated. Perhaps she needs to remember who's paying $36 to see her in concert and $100 to see her in Wicked and $10.50 to see Rent in November. If she were on vacation or at a restuarant it might be different, but she was in Ptown to work and she was walking down the street.
Overall, I loved her show and had a blast, but I walked away from Sunday's encounter feeling like, "Bitch, you betta recognize where your fame comes from and who's paying your electric bill."
Enough ranting here, you all wanted details...No I didn't take pictures. I'm not a 12 year old girl.
what i dont get is, she knows she's famous, she knows there people in town to see here, ofcourse they are going to recognize her and talk to her. if they didn't want to attract fans why bother going outside??
Maybe she was going somewhere. Maybe she had plans for lunch. Maybe she's on vocal rest. Just because a famous person dares to venture outside doesn't mean that they're obligated to spend 20 minutes talking to everyone who approaches them. Alot of celebrities would have just ignored you. At least you were even acknowledged.
"what i dont get is, she knows she's famous, she knows there people in town to see here, ofcourse they are going to recognize her and talk to her. if they didn't want to attract fans why bother going outside??"
LOL. Is that a JOKE? You really expect her to not go outside?
Adam, I don't know what was going on, but you don't know if she had plans. And you also may be forgetting that--for all you know--you may have been the 100th person appraoching her the street that day. Maybe she didn't handle it the nicest way, but...she absolutely DOES remember where her fans come from. I've had a couple of very nice encounters with her, and Saturday night, she even stayed after to take a big group picture with a group of her fans, which she didn't have to do, considering she had dinner plans already.
...and after we took the picture Saturday night, she spent a good while signing autographs for people!
So... if she's not going to want to be stopped by her fans, she's not allowed to go outside? huh. That's a nice philosophy. I'll have to put THAT one into practice next time I flail about, hoping to meet somebody. Maybe it's not THEM. Maybe it's YOU.
I've never really figured into the crap reputation Idina gets; I've never experienced her being anything but sweet, if only slightly reserved. But apparently reservation translates to bitchiness, and not caring.
"I wish I could go! *pines* She should come to NC! She has plenty of fans here."
Dude, you're from NC? Where at? Maybe we could get together and wallow in our I'm-not-going misery at her next concert. :P

One thing is she very much dislikes a large portion of her fan base...the screaming 14 year old Wicked Fan girls. So more or less she was hoping for a peaceful walk with the hubby and not to be interrupted by one of them, so they were a little testy, thats natural. Taye was just protecting the wifey. They had a lot going on in the past year.
The one time I met her she was the nicest and kindest person. I'm looking forward to meeting her again. I really don't know of any Broadway actor that hasn't been nice to their fans.
Oh, she told you she didn't like them.
Annnnd this is how rumors start...
Totally not the assumption to stick on a message board. Even if she was a little bit bitchy at the Wicked stage door or whatever, this is how bad raps get worse.
Taye is a perfect gentleman. Whoever started this latest bout of "Idina hates her fans!" made him sound like the devil incarnate.
and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't she make more stage door appearances than her "good" counterpart?
I know sooooo many people saw her last sunday downtown and talked to her. Just dreaming here once again but wouldnt it be amazing if she performed something from AIDA!?! Im thinking "step to far" if Adam decides to show up again and then taye could fill in for aida's part. Or if adam isnt there then "every story". just dreaming
meagan. It's true, she did.
And, saying she doesn't like her 14-year-old fans is silly. She appreciates them; she's just not good with dealing with them when they're sqeauling and screaming and crying. They're just young, I'm sure she gets that.

That's what I like about her so much. She's not fake.
"So I said hey and sorry to bother you but you were ****ing awesome and thanks."
I told Idina she was awesome when I saw her, I think we need to find a new verb, eh? And when do you go walking around shooting the f-word at people you don't really know, when you're not aggravated or pissed at them for doing something asinine to you. Albeit the use of **** at several of her concerts, but that’s just Idina.
Personally, I think Idina does get irked at her teenybopper fans when they are over zealous, and when all they know and care about is her role in Wicked. But when I saw her, she was more then gracious, given that there was uproar of little kids shouting, “Idina, I love yoooooou!” (Okay, so I lie, it was two…but there were squeals!)
:sigh: I really hope that Idina sticks in a concert in nyc sometime in the near future…maybe after her run at the Public?
That's cool that she signed autographs on Saturday night. They announced it Sunday night after the show that she would not be signing any autographs. Having seen Idina in Rent and Wicked, I was prepared with my Playbills to have her sign them. Oh well, maybe next time.
