That's a perfect term..."fad". This is all it is. Like I said, it will all be over in a very short time when the board starts obsessing about the cast of Little women and Foster all over again. I find the whole lot of the "Elphie's" faddish and interchangeable and ultimately, with a short shelf life. IN MY OPINION, I don't think that 30 years from now, we will be mentioning any of these woman in the way we're still talking about Merman, Lupone, et al, now. but hey, that's just me trying to out-bitter Bobbybitterbubbybitchy. where's Marquise when you need him to one up us both?
jarred - Tamyra Gray as Elpheba??? that is the funniest thing I ever heard.. She zero stage presence let alone acting abilities.
And since folks here to an absurd degree
Seem fixated on your vertigris
Would it be all right by you
If I de-freenify you???!!!
P.S. The lyrics may be a little off.
"and though of course that's not important to me" hell yea it is id like to be the next elphie

Her name is Saycon Sengbloh and she is a broadway actress who has played roles in quite a few hit shows, on and off Broadway, not some "black girl named Saycon something". If she does join the cast of Wicked as Elpheba, then I think she would be great, and her skin color has no bearing on anything whatsoever, especially considering the role calls for her to be green. I have seen her perform, and she commands the stage with her very presence alone. Though I am new to seeing her perform, she has a fan in me.
I read earlier in the thread that Shoshana Bean was leaving in the spring to do a CD. Here is an article on her taking the part over.

Sorry to bring this up again, but-
""Don't forget, THEY TURN HER FREEN."
It ain't easy bein' freen... "
That was good, I like that. How about-
"You have a freen thumb."
"Freen with envy."
Anyway, Shoshana is officially taking over as Elphie after Idina leaves. Too bad, Eden is so much better. Problem is, BKLYN. You know how it is... I guess-
The grass is always freener on the other side."
I was going to skip seeing Wicked again while in New York and wait for the tour to hit Denver next fall. But something tells me that I may want to experience Shoshana Bean live. I hear such good things about her here. And I have sampled some of her music. So I guess I should put the show back on my list!
