They filmed Lombardi tonight for the Lincoln Center archives...
and sitting right there in the front row - directly ACROSS from the main camera, was a woman TEXTING on her VERY bright iPhone through the show...
THE NIGHT THEY FILMED!! What the hell is WRONG with people??!!??
I tried to catch her after the show to give her a piece of my mind, but couldn't... so here's what I WOULD have said to you if I had caught you, you stupid biatch:
You dumb COW! They were FILMING for the archives tonight! How EFFING important were your G.D. texts that you had to sit there with your brightly lit phone, disrupting the actors on THE NIGHT THEIR PERFORMANCES WERE SAVED FOR ALL TIME? You stupid ignorant piece of swamp trash. How effing DARE you! Who the hell do you think you ARE to sit in the front row of ANY show and TEXT, much less during one that's being FILMED?!?! Do you have ANY common sense, you mental midget satanic afterbirth swillin' loser from hell? Not ONLY is it not fair to the actors, but now, for all of history, whenever people want to study Lombardi (and they will), and they go to the archives to watch it, they will not only see Dan Lauria and Judith Light giving the performances of their careers, but they'll also see the bright glow of your G.D. phone you stupid heffer nincompoop piece of garbage Ho bag from the nether regions of Hades!! What could be THAT damned important that you had to be THAT inconsiderate during a SHORT ONE ACT PLAY? I pray that you NEVER disgrace a theater with your presence AGAIN, until you LEARN some manners, you big fat sow's ass waste of human flesh!! You owe every audience member, every actor, and the history of theater a huge whopping apology for your actions tonight, you trilobite of human existence!! May your vagina be eaten by flesh eating maggots.
And a P.S. to you dumbasses who just HAD to leave the theater during the curtain calls: You TOO will now be seen for all time as the jackasses who couldn't wait another 2 minutes to get to their subways, to THANK the actors for their hard work with a round of well deserved applause. I hope you all ended up on subways that broke down, got flat tires and hit every light on the way back to Massapequa, Secaucus, or wherever the hell you came in from! CURTAIN CALLS ARE PART OF THE SHOW YOU MORON'S!! AND IF YOU EVER DARE TO LEAVE A SHOW DURING CURTAIN CALLS THAT I'M AT AND YOU'RE IN MY ROW, YOU CAN COUNT ON BEING TRIPPED AS YOU PASS ME BY!!!!
There, I've now vented...
But Jesus, why are some people SOOOOO effing STUPID and inconsiderate!!??!!

The fact that they were filming is irrelevant.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

That's the first thing that came to my mind, too.
Do they film the audience?

Um, yes, clearly I was aggravated and think the person should have been told off, but I also wanted to make a few of you laugh as I vented... so even though I stand by the belief that the woman deserved every name I flung tonight in my earlier post, I also wanted to tell you of my aggravation while making a few of you chuckle...
gotta find humor in everything... and the idea of going all ghetto on that girl was not only satisfying, but also very amusing to me... and hopefully to a few of you too...
and if not, be careful, 'cause I might's hafta get's all ghet-TO on yo' ass's too...
Just because this never gets old...

"Do they film the audience?"
The way Circle in the Square is constructed, being theater in the round, with the stage being elevated, yes the first row or two of audience members are quite visible... and I could see the camera monitor from where I was sitting, and the woman was clearly in the picture with her brightly lit phone texting...
No more a sin that it's done during filming then any other time. MOST of the people that watch the archives are watching the production. I'm also sure they'll be able to edit it well. (How much of the audience is seen ANYWAY?)
i really cant stand the leaving. I mean front row seats arent cheap. Why would u even do it. I dont turn off my phone but i never even glance at it during a show i am tooo busy ... u know WATCHING a show
While I think it's rude to leave before curtain calls, I don't think it's awful in the scheme of bad behavior. UNLESS you are crawiling over the rest of your row to get out. But just scooting up the aisle to catch a train, or because you aren't feeling well or any number of legitimate reasons.....not so much a big deal.

At Circle in the Square many people have to walk down to the stage and then along the stage to a second stairway to leave. So those people who did that during the curtain call were literally doing it right in the faces of the actors. And as a working actor, I can tell you that NONE of us who work professionally in the theater think it's ok for you to scoot out during our curtain calls. We've earned that moment. Have the courtesy to give it to us.

it's up to the audience to decide if the actor "earned" the curtain call. Actors shouldn't have a sense of entitlement to an ovation.
but i agree that if the theater/stage is designed in such a way the audience member can potentially interfere with the curtain call by leaving, he should wait the two minutes. i also agree that texting during a show is not ok, whether it's first row or not.
