If Billy Elliot is too strong for kids...then which is BEST show for them?

I posted earlier and got great responses as to whether Billy Elliot would be appropriate for my 7 and 8 year old kids this winter. It's sounding like the language might be too much, as well as the show's length. So, lots of posters said take them to something else that's "wow" and lighter in theme...any suggestions for the best child appropriate broadway in NYC this winter? THANKS.

My 5 (a boy), 8 and 10 year old just saw Mary Poppins and Little Mermaid and loved them both! My son had a hard time sitting thru Mermaid, but focused pretty well thru M.P., probably because there were real kids on stage, compared to Mermaid with people dressed in costumes. Wicked can be a bit scary for young kids, my 8-year-old was frightened the first time she saw it.

Young Frankenstein would be confusing for kids, also the humor is very sexual.

Lion King or Mary Poppins. Both are amazing. I didn't care for LM...neither did my then 7 year old son. (10 year old daughter LIKED it...didn't love it.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Are your kids boys or girls or one of each? If they're boys, they might prefer Lion King, and if they are girls, they might prefer Mary Poppins or Little Mermaid. If both, I think Lion King will be appreciated by both.

Or you can take them to White Christmas.
