ahhh another idea, Elphaba could be getting ready to "fly out the window" durring Defying Gravity, then when the guards come, all you see is them struggling with Glinda and when they look to the window she's gone...woooooooooooooow
And when Elphaba flys she can use her broom to knock the guards and theirs butts,J/K.I do think some of the book should be changed to give other Characters more to work with.
"I think Harvey [Fierstein] wishes he were a black woman. I say he's the largest black woman in the show. I wish Harvey were straight, cuz I'd do him in a minute. I like big burly mother f***ers like him." ~Mary Bond Davis on Harvey Fierstein Thanks to Mistress @ spouzic.com
I love the book, and prefer it to the show, but I doubt that a movie would be made from it. By the time a movie would come out the fan base for the show would be bigger than it already is, and how many of the little girls are going to want to see it with out all of the 'fun" songs. Also, the book is darker and more adult, so keeping the fan base in mind and the fact the a PG rating would be what they would be shooting for, the book would be lost again. I'm for just filming the show and releasing to the masses, but not until the show closes which will be years.
you can TALK any way you want - but you have to SPEAK and WRITE with correct grammar!

The grammar in this thread is quite sad. There should be spaces after sentences. Saying, "I'm from the south, I can talk the way I want." That is pretty ridiculous, because none of us can understand you talking that way!

Well I honestly think that if they ever make a movie of Wicked it won't hold a candle to the stage performance. The thing is that since it's fantasy and magical, on stage it looks spectacular to the audience but for a movie it'll just look like another one of those Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe movies. I'd like to see them make it and see how it ends up but I don't think it will be all that mindblowing.
I wanted to get something that an "ex"-junkie like him would really appreciate and cherish....it's a brick of heroin shaped like a heart.

I think something would be lost in a movie version of "Wicked"! I would definitely see it & probably own the DVD when it came out but it will never be the same as the stage show!
Let's get everyone's opinions on who they would cast??
Unfortunately, I never see this happening, but it'd be nice if - in the event that they DO make Wicked (the musical) into a movie - that they put some stuff from the book into the movie. What? I have no idea. But still.. hm.
Honestly, I'd prefer it being made based on the book, but as someone else already pointed out.. Wicked's huge fanbase is based on the musical and all the little fangirls aren't going to want to see a movie based on the book. Which sucks. Because the book is so much better than the stage show (which I also love).
I'd rather see the book be made into a 3 day - 2 hr each day movie (on like HBO or FX - to incorporate the dark nudity and profanity)- which then would be released on DVD...AS WELL AS a movie version of the musical.
Oooh. I actually like your idea, BSo. Have it a 3 part mini-series on HBO ala Angels in America or something? That's another 6 hours of something I'd be more than willing to sit through.
i really dont think they should i was so upset when they made POTO into a movie! i dont think they could do half as good of a job as they do on stage....
