If there were a "Best Song" Tony category...

...what song(s) from scores that were not nominated (or will likely NOT get nominated this year) would you list?

Also, why aren't there Best Song and Best Ensemble categories? They seem like naturals. And will New York, New York be eligible for a Score nomination?

I've never understood the push for a Best Ensemble category. How can one possibly compare the variety of ensembles? For example, how does one consider the high schoolers in Kimberly Akimbo against the players in & Juliet? It just does not make sense to me. That in no way diminishes the hard work ensembles do, I just cannot understand how one could possibly and fairly evaluate them.

I see your point, but I'm not sure that your objection doesn't apply to all the acting categories. I think that's essentially what Cate Blanchett expressed when she accepted her Golden Globe this year and called for doing away with competitive acting awards that pit actors against actors.

I feel like that also applies to other categories too though. How do you evaluate Choreography when one show has dazzling tap numbers and the other is more movement inspired modern dance moves? It's all subjective anyway so why couldn't you evaluate the ensemble? I think an important distinction if that were to even happen though is does ensemble mean entire cast (ala what they do at the SAG Awards) or literally the ensemble (not leading & featured roles)

As far as Best Song, I have wanted that to be a category for forever. I don't know the new shows well enough yet to have an opinion but I have lots of opinions on what should have won in the past if it was a category.
