It's difficult to choose just one but I'd love to go back to the 80's and see the first (or last) performance of Carrie on Broadway.
(OR the original production of The Wiz. OR Liza Minelli in Chicago OR the original off-Browady production of Little Shop of Horrors)
The 1903 Wizard of Oz with Montgomery and Stone.
Sweeney Todd.
Michael Bennett's BALLROOM and the original production of ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY.

I was born in 82, so my formative theatre years we're the late 80s and early 90s. 1988 to be exact. I was probably the only kindergartner in town who was obsessed with The Phantom of The Opera. So my choice would be the OBC of Phantom. I know there are probably more thrilling performances to attend if given the opportunity to use a time machine, but I'd have to go to where my love for theatre started.
Either opening night of Hair or the night that Ted Neeley played Jesus, Kurt Yahjian played Judas, and Nell Carter played Mary in the O'Horgan JCS.

This is my first time posting, so I hope this comes through okay!
I have a very clear memory of seeing Mary Martin in Peter Pan. I was in the balcony (first row) with my mother and Aunt Ruth. In the scene where Peter says he needs help, I leaped up and was ready to fly to the stage. "I'll help you Peter!" I yelled. Fortunately, I was saved from certain death (falling into the orchestra seats) by my mother and aunt grabbing the sash on the back of my dress (we dressed up for the theater in those days, and I was four).
When I went back to research this, I discovered that Peter Pan closed five months before I was born!
So, I would vote for Peter Pan since I didn't see it on Broadway, even though my brain seems to think I did. Second choice would be South Pacific, because I really am a Mary Martin fan and would have loved to have seen her live in something.

The Closing Night for THE BOY FROM OZ! John Helpern wrote about that memorable evening --

It was almost a surreal experience as the audience were as excited as the cast performing onstage. When Stephanie Block performed I COULD HEAR THE MUSIC, the stage practically vibrated with her energy and she earned a standing ovation. Isabel Keating sputtered when she drank her faux-drink for the last time, not realizing someone must have spiked it . Hugh Jackman was absolutely scintillating in his finale performance ( a real Great Showman!) - he even threatened to extend his contract when everybody knew that was not happening
. When he sang ONCE BEFORE I GO ( the eleven o'clock number which earned daily standing ovations), his Peter Allen persona disappeared and it was Hugh saying Goodbye to Broadway! The audience sang along with the finale number I GO TO RIO! Matt Damon and Baba Walters were Hugh's fourth wall performers on stage. Many celebrities around to help celebrate the closing of a show that did not know it was going to make it after Opening Night! Great memories!
