Uptown Players' production of "Bent" by Martin Sherman has but four performances left, Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. What a great show for Mother's Day!
First produced in 1979, "Bent" was nominated for both a Pulitzer and a Tony award in 1980. Essentially a love story, the play follows Max (David Plunkett) on his journey from the hedonistic Berlin of the early 1930s to his internment in Dachau concentration camp. It depicts the two great loves of his life: Rudy (Andrew Phifer), a somewhat hapless dancer, and Horst (Kevin Moore), a fellow prisoner at the camp. The underlying principles of hatred, whether fueling single outrageous events of violence or leading to a holocaust, are fundamentally the same then as now. This drama will remind us that we must be as vigilant against prejudice and hatred in 2007/2008 as the world should have been in 1937/1938.

Uptown Players presents
This is one of my favorite plays. I hope I can make it this weekend...I didn't even know it was playing! Thanks for the reminder.
Munk, it's in Dallas.
Are you in the show Billy?
No wonder I've never heard of the "Uptown Players."
Damnit.
If you are in Dallas, DO NOT MISS THIS. It's a stunning production with two of the best performances I've seen on an area stage in David Plunkett and Kevin Moore.
Trust me -- it's incredible.
Yes, patronus, I play Max.
