I thought the performance came off pretty well.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Fox5 NYC broadcast it at 12noon instead of the normal 10am and then just as the cast was suppose to perform Fox5 pre-empts it with a news bulletin. ARGHHH.

It is suppose to be on at 10pm tonight on My9, but who knows if it will get pre-empted with snow coverage.

I need to respectfully disagree... I didn't enjoy the performance at all. I thought Corbin sounded odd, though his acting and mannerisms were spot on and Marcy didn't sound good at all. Though the new Sonny I thought was good...

Thought Marcy sounded great. Corbs sounded.. weird. NuSonny was well, I need to get used to that.

All I can say is that I am glad I got the performance recorded on my DVDR. :)

I didn't like it. They chopped the song up too much. I know they had to for time, but it's just so weird when you're used to how the song is supposed to be.

David Del Rio was great. Corbin wasn't as energetic as he is in the show. Marcy... if they want to sell tickets, why would they let her sing. No offense.

I saw Karen as Vanessa when the show first opened then saw Marcy as Vanessa in January 2009. I forgot how terrible Marcy was compared to Karen....why is she still playing Vanessa?

Where was that amazing energy that In the Heights always used to have? Everyone seemed to be so bored, Corbin included. I saw the original cast three times, and this just proves that I am not planning a return trip anytime soon. I miss Karen Olivo.

LOL, I love how every Heights thread always turns into a Marcy bashing thread. I'd take her over Olivo any day.

Why would they pick a song that features Marcy Harriell so prominently? Yikes.

I can understand why they would choose It Won't Be Long Now. Karen Olivo performed it on Good Morning America once before. The song is fun and has a lot of energy. I would choose this song too for a TV performance. Oh Marcy Marcy Marcy...

I thought Marcy sounded pretty good, actually. Corbin did, too, though I was thrown off by his change of voice. I've never seen him live- does he always sound like that during the show?

I was lucky enough to see Janet Dacal on as Vanessa who was phenomenal! Marcy didn't seem as bad as I was expecting, though...

My real question is: where the hell did this Wendy Williams come from? I know she's been on TV for a while but she seemed to have just popped up! I only know she did radio before cause she said it on her show (I watched Corbin on it.)

dave, I hope that performance didn't discourage you that much. The amazing energy IS still in the show. It just wasn't shown here. Marcy is the only lifeless one, but everyone else, Corbin especially, are not. The show is still very fun and lively. I saw the show recently and was blown away just as much as was the other times I saw it. It is worth it to see Corbin and everyone else.

Wishing ~ You're so lucky you got to see Janet as Vanessa! Now you should go back to see her as Nina. She is amazing! In The Heights on The Wendy Williams Show Updated On: 2/28/10 at 03:36 PM

Having just seen the NY cast last week, I can assure you there is still plenty of energy from everyone but Marcy Harriell, who is appearing in an entirely different musical than the rest of the cast.

Wendy Williams has been around in the NYC area for a while now(mostly with her radio show). Her talk show has only been around about 1 year now.

First Chicago, now In The Heights. I never thought she'd have any B'way shows on her little talk show. Thanks Wendy!!

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I don't understand all of the "I miss Karen Olivo" since I found her Vanessa fairly sleep-inducing.

Personally, I think they need to make Courtney Reed full time Vanessa (I would've said Janet but obviously she is otherwise occupied and I love her as Nina). She was brilliant.
