#3In-depth Update on Karen Olivo
Posted: 7/25/13 at 11:00pmI am glad she is finally doing something for herself. It sounds like she was living her life for others...doing what they told her to do...if you look at pictures of her, she always looks unhappy (and or depressed) not smiling or anything. Just glad she can be at peace now...

Posted: 7/25/13 at 11:27pmNamo, I immediately thought something was up when it mentioned that she refused to disclose her reasons for moving to Madison. What could possibly be so private and personal aside from a new boy (or girl)?

It sounds like life took a pretty big sh*t on her. She's so talented and really sweet, I hope she returns to the stage one day

I hope I never reach the point in my life where I'm giving a newspaper interview and I'm including the phrase, "my latest divorce."
All joking aside, it sounds like she knows her life isn't going the way that she wants, and she is trying to change that. I wish her well.

I'm confused. Has she taken a job as a potter? Or just something she does for fun?
I know she spent a couple of years on a network television show but is she really wealthy enough where she can afford to not work at all and just make clay pots and play the guitar all day?

adam,
That is why I wonder if there is someone special in Madison who is helping her support this transitional time. Nothing wrong with that!
Don't forget the article mentions that she is now teaching classes and still does master classes. Probably not enough to live on, but as a Tony Award-winner I am sure she can pick up a pretty penny for those master classes.

What tv show was she on?
And yeah, I mean, as someone trying to gain the attention she's garnered, it's a little disheartening to know she's giving it all up for whatever reasons, but I hope she finds the happiness she longs for.

Olivo mentioned in her initial blog post that she is (or was) with a new boyfriend already. I assumed that person was why she moved to the Midwest. Given that so much of her personal turmoil has been because of another failed marriage, I could see why she would be hesitant to admit another relationship being part of what has motivated her to seek change this drastically, if that really is why she has gone to Wisconsin specifically.
I say, good for her. Life is about so much more than just work, and I commend her for following her passion and putting herself first. In the end, that's all that matters. I hope she finds the peace of mind she's looking for. She deserves it.

I liked her very much in In the Heights, disliked her dancing very much in West Side, but she is a talented woman, well-liked by many if not most or all of her colleagues.
The road through life is hard for everyone. I wish her the very best in her journey, and I sincerely hope she returns to Broadway.

I sincerely hopes she returns to Broadway but she said it best in that article:
"I think a lot of my fans were probably hurt and a lot of them don't understand because they want to see my work and I understand that, but I'm no good to them on stage if I'm not good off stage"
She's a smart woman. She knows that there's more to life than fame, awards and accolades. Those things are great but without purpose they're nothing. Happiness trumps all of that. I hope she truly finds that fulfillment she is looking for.
