...well, just a snippet. I have a dresser friend on "Ugly Betty" that says America Ferrara auditioned for a role in the movie version of "In the Heights". He didn't know for what role or any other info on the film.
I can only picture her as Nina. But that role requires some real singing chops.
Ferrera would be perfectly cast as Nina, in terms of type.
I imagine we'll see someone like Rosario Dawson as Vanessa.
I'm sure the film adaptation of IN THE HEIGHTS will be opened up a bit and not be a carbon-copy of the stage production. Due to this I expect to see other characters created for the film along with the ones we already know from the stage version.
America Ferrara could most likely auditioned for one of these 'new' roles -- not a role from the stage production.

I can imagine flashbacks where we young versions of Nina's parents and Abuela in their home countries. Maybe even Usnavi as a little boy.

Me, and 5 gorgeous girls sitting in a waiting room trying to win the lottery...my LA screen-test.
This was Karen Olivo's Twitter, could she possibly be in the running for Vanessa?
They are writing a new role/song for Karen, "Cinema Espanol" to help audiences understand what life was like in NYC in the early 00s.
I think Jennifer Hudson should do it. And if you don't like color blind casting then you're a lacist.

I could see Usnavi and Benny rapping and singing with teens on the street or Bennet Park.

PGenre, that might be the only clever thing you've ever posted on here.

Irrelevence: I never saw the show, but would White or Asian people fit in good into the movie, or atleast the show? I'm Asian and from all of the cast recording clips, I would love to play Sonny or Piragua Guy when I grow up. Sorry for the life story. :/
