This has been discussed in the Indecent Closing thread by a few of us, but I think it really deserves its own thread. Indecent, recently slated to shutter this weekend, has cancelled its closing notice and is now selling tickets until an August 6th closing date. This seems unprecedented to me, though maybe someone can set me straight. I can only think of an instance where a few extra performances were added after the closing notice roused interest. This also isn't an extension for a limited run. This is a quick turnaround where a show announced closing, nearly reached that date, and now has opened up over a month of new performances.
It's astonishing news, and wonderful in my book. I only hope it can reach August now that the gauntlet has been thrown down; it had an uphill battle, and now it has to sell shows from scratch again that are mere days away. Do the producers expect the rush of interest from people scrambling to catch the show to continue at the same pace? I hope this is a bit more thought through than that. It would be heartbreaking to see another closing notice in a week. Perhaps a passionate investor kicked in a new major sum?
In any event, a fabulous and shocking announcement, and I hope that many who have not seen this wonderful show now get the chance.
