Does anyone else think that it is a little early for another revival of this play. It was done in 1996, only about ten years ago, and ran for only 45 performances. I understand that ten years is quite a while, but if they insist on reviving there are so many other great plays out there that have never been revived.
It's one of my favorite plays. And while I agree that there are so many plays worth reviving, I am very excited to see this production.
Christopher Plummer is enough of an excuse to revive anything!

I hope that it's a well done revival. The 1996 revival was done by Tony Randall's "National Theatre" and I never felt like any of those productions were top notch.

Considering that there are school systems in this country that have recently questioned or outlawed the teaching of evolutionary theory and a president who has encouraged teaching of intelligent design. it seems a perfect time to revive Inherit the Wind.

Exactly Smaxie-- I wish we didn't need to see it again so soon, but we certainly do. I remember when I first saw this play some 30 years ago, I never dreamed we'd be having these arguments again.
If they can revive LES MIZ...
I believe that the reason the 1996 revival ran for such a short period of time was due to the fact that George C. Scott was ill and unable to do eight performances a week.
As far as this revival is concerned, I can only say that Brian Dennehey and Christopher Plummer on stage together sounds pretty much like theatrical heaven.

Yeah, I agree with the posters above, in purely theatrical terms, it's too early for a revival -- but it's amazing how much more screwed up our country is now than it was 10 years ago. We've slid backwards about 80 years in terms of the issues this play raises. We definitely need to see this again, sad as it may be.
We read this in English last year--I loved it and am really looking forward to it. 10 years is long enough for a new generation to want to see a show and for the last one to miss it, I think.
