As far as I was aware, the costume cuts may be a welcome relief to the cast as the pace is so fast. All those costume changes whilst creating an atmosphere for the audience, must be really hellish for the cast to keep up with. I'm sure their dripping sweat by the end as it is with all those wigs! The cuts in the tour and the broadway show as a whole should come as no suprise to anyone if you follow the Hairspray gossip which is not just limited to little old US but the UK as well. If they are to open the production on west end as speculated around Sept/Oct of this year then there MUST be some budgeting for this. As far as the goss went, they have already shipped the sets from Toronto to London... but that is just gossip. There is however some proof of a west end debut this year in a well known Westend magazine advertising for auditions for Hairspray only just last month! This and the opening of Hairspray in Vegas should of course explain some cut backs, whether it's permenant or not one can only guess. Nameless sounds to me like someone who might know the cast a bit more closely than most of us here and I will hazard a guess that nameless is a bit put off by the uncertainty of the future for the beloved Hairspray characters and the actors/actresses who play them. Carly was known to miss shows on the tour as I read on the fansites, but I don't know about her attendance now on broadway. Still no reason to belittle her on a forum no matter what you think of her or her style. What's trash to one man is treasure to another as they say. I for one would much rather speculate about who will be cast in Westend and Vegas in the lead roles. Anyone have any guesses?
