re: Britney on Broadway...
 Nov 20 2005, 05:37:46 AM
Oh she'll pack the seats alright! She'll pack um with 13 year olds holding up giant posters and screaming "I LOVE YOU BRITNEY!!" with BRITNEY 4 EVA written in black eyeliner on their cheeks. They'll probably spontaneously burst into song whenever she starts singing and wave glow sticks and little lighted whirly do-dads in the air.

Now if that doesn't throw you off the idea of Britney being on broadway, I don't know what will.

She hasn't EARNED the role. THAT is what's seriously wrong with casting her and it smacks of PR machine gone horribly a wry.

If she wants to be Charity she should have to go through the grueling audition process like every other self-respecting serious actor in the business; not have all these bleeding "talks" were her people talk to their people and blow hot air up each other's butts deciding just how much money their gonna make by having her on broadway. If she can out sing and out da

Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum - did not appeal to me in the slightest but as I was with a group of people who desperately wanted to go, I tagged along.

I thoroughly enjoyed it! There were times I laughed so hard I nearly peed myself... nearly.

Chicago... I think I will be lynched for saying that.

I agree with you Sant about The Phantom of the Opera scene, but I prefer when the chandelier raises up at the beginning.

Beauty and the Beast when the Beast turns into the Prince. I KNOW it's extremely soppy but I loved that moment; I'm a kid at heart.

Man of La Mancha

There's a fine line between being mad as a hatter and a hopeless dreamer. Seeing the world as what it could be and not as it is sounds like a good idea to me; may be very dillusional but still a damn fine idea!

re: Winokur vs. Peters...Who deserved it?

I heart Bernadette! I think she is the best invention since two ply toilet paper. Never saw her in Gypsy, I will shed tears over this till the day I die.

But since MJW won the Tony, a part of me deep down inside where everything is still warm and fuzzy believes that regardless of how ludicruosly talented Our Lady Peters is, MJW put in a unique enough performance to deserve it. She breathed life into a character who was endearing to all who watched and consistently touched the audience,

Yeah alright TheatreDiva you don't have to get the arse about it.

Just looks a bit dodgy to me when someone asks when my sister's contract is gonna end, that's all. I got a bit defensive ... so shoot me.

Why do you want to know?

I think these are adorable photos... very good shots.

And Keala has such a beautiful smile.

I would like to add my enthusiastic support to RYANWOODS statement:

PLEASE COME TO LONDON ....
and if you can, cast Keala as Tracy. If it's not too much trouble.

Thank you.

In case you might have thought I was serious, I wasn't.

Only kidding guys!

Keala is lovely, and most talented person I've ever known and I'm very proud of her.

I'm most likely way off but I thought Michael Crawford was in Phantom for ages.

And I can answer the second question rKrispyt:

She loves what she does so she doesn't want to stop working even when she feels one under (Which is silly Keala because you MUST REST more than once every 3 years). That and she's as stubborn as her mother - and that's stubborness of biblical proportions.

P.S. she talks constantly at very loud volumes so that's how here vocal chords are so in shape :p~

re: Mariah Carey??
 Jun 10 2005, 05:29:43 PM
I don't like Kelly Clarkson either. But she's great with the rifts (Audryna speak for riffs) too! Just not my cuppa.

All of Mariah's tv appearances in the UK recently have been her lipsyncing her song. But I'll be honest I think she may have lost a bit of confidence since her breakdown as the lipsyncing started after that period of her life. She'll come round eventually once she renews faith in herself.

I don't think either artists deserve the verbal massacre they have recieved

re: Aretha
 Jun 7 2005, 09:43:02 AM
Wow, sounds like I missed a truly terrible performance. I do love Our Lady Aretha but she is after all only human.

That and I've noticed from watching her performances over the years, she does tend to get a bit arrogant and over sing people when she is required to share the spotlight. I'm sure she would have done a fantastic job had she not had to share the stage, but as she did, she probably got the hump about it.

I hope it wasn't too embaressing, bless her.

re: Mariah Carey??

I don't like Mariah Carey anymore. I did when I was a teenager and then I grew up a bit and my taste and direction in music changed. I'm not saying the quality of her voice is lacking because that DEFINITELY is not the case. The power and range of her voice rivals all the greats and she is unique and original in how she places her vocal rifts in any song whether it is a cover or one she has written herself. Her music just does not move me in the slightest, and I am not alone in feeling that way.
re: Broadway stars that graduated from your High School?
 May 30 2005, 04:15:19 AM
Keala as Tracy in the National Tour of Hairspray went to my school Kahuku High in Hawaii.

The Divine Miss M went to a neighboring high school called Radford. Radford have an average music syllabus now, but Kahuku has a much better music syllabus, having won many national awards for the choir as well as marching band.

Or maybe I'm just bias :)
