I am looking for Inspirational and Meaningful Songs for my Theatre Seniors Awards Night. I don't want to use For Good. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
Climb Every Mountain and You'll Never Walk Alone are good standbys
Yes, they are two of my favorite Broadway songs - especially YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE (as arranged in the finale of CAROUSEL.)
The Impossible Dream, MAN OF LA MANCHA
Thanks so far! Please keep them coming. I love You'll Never Walk Alone.
THIS IS THE MOMENT - Jekyll and Hyde..perfect for things like this.
Eh...the lyrics are too banal.
What about "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon/Garf.?
It was the Senior song last year at graduation. I am looking for Broadway songs. Thank you though!
How about Move On, Children Will Listen, No One is Alone?
Yeah, why is it that Sondheim comes to mind when I think of inspirational songs?

Make Them Hear You from Ragtime.
You can't go wrong with this song.
"For the Glory"-Civil war
"Im the Bravest Individual" from Sweet Charity
How about "Our Time" from Merrily We Roll Along? I'm suprised no one mentioned that song; it has always seemed perfect to me for a graduation ceremony.
Wow you guys! Great list! Thank you all so much. I'm writing them all down. If there are more, please post them. Part of this is for the slide show and part is for performance. My seniors are very special this year.
Sondheim does write great ones!
I sang "As If We Never Said Goodbye" from Sunset my senior year. It worked well, especially the last line--"We taught the world new ways to dream."

Spamalot's Always Look on the Bright Side of Life?
No?
Then I'd have to go with Joseph's Any Dream Will Do.
Hmmm... I like "Any Dream Will Do" I also like "Here I Am!" DRS... or "I Wish I could Go Back To College..." :P
Being a former chorus/theatre teacher I have had to pick my share of graduation/senior night songs. Two songs that I did that I think work really well are "Make Them Hear You" from Ragtime and "You Walk With Me" from The Full Monty. There are choral versions available for both songs if you are planning on doing a group number. I did these as graduation songs in consecutive years. There is also a "gospel" version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" out there as well. I am including a link to a site where you can find pretty much any choral music in existence including these pieces.
Just PM me if you have any other questions. I miss teaching from time to time and am always glad to help a fellow teacher out! I hope this helps!

i REALLY like "make them hear you" for this situation....i think it's better than most of the "upbeat" songs.
i think it's much much better to have a song that works OUT of the context of the show (not something like "any dream will do" where you have to knwo about the coat, etc.)
just my thoughts!

Hold On from The Secret Garden is one.
I've always loved the lyrics to Anything Can Happen from Mary Poppins. It gave me that type of feeling I used to get when I first saw the animated classics like Little Mermaid or Lion King.
One year in HS we did New World from Songs for a New World. It turned out awesome.
