This is such a fun thread.

Also,
Miley Cyrus (& her other "Celebrities") = Disney
Wicked = Universal
Disney =/= Universal
It won't happen.
Filming a live show like Wicked would read so flat on TV and people would wonder what all the fuss is about. Plus all of the costumes and sets would look really cheap. Ill wait for a movie that hopefully can expand on the book.
A movie that is the non-musical version of the book would be much preferred by me.
Sorry, that wording was whacky.
I'd also love to see a movie adaptation of the novel although it'll never happen since that's what Universal was planning on doing in the first place before Stephen Schwartz convinced them to make it into a musical.
It seems like this topic pops up every few weeks and I say the same thing every time: The Wicked film is probably still years away and when it does get going, no one from the OBC or any of the various productions will be cast in the lead roles. They will not be making the movie exclusively for theater fans. It's been proven time and again that movie musicals these days need big Hollywood names to draw people in. Again, look at how Rent and The Producers fared. Both had their respective original casts and both were box office and critical flops.

before Stephen Schwartz convinced them to make it into a musical.
I believe it was Marc Platt who convinced them, Stephen just gave Marc the idea of doing it as a musical.
I love Wicked threads but I wish we could just skip to the part where Idina Menzel is made fun of. That is always the best.

Hahahaha! Just looked at my post from last year... I was so young and naive back then. Now, I really don't know how I feel about turning the show into a movie. There is definitely a lot of stuff that would not work as well on screen as it does on stage, so there would need to be many changes. And the idea of using the original cast if they ever were to make a movie is just laughable. They are all way too old.
